No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.

lostwolfe: a question: it's a "pre-order incentive." does this mean you can /never/ get this ship in the wild, in the game? only if you pre-order? [if so, then this is a VERY bad place for gog to be going.]
avatar
MxMedix: you can find this ship in game... read my post above yours
thanks. i do appreciate your input here, but i'd also welcome the actual developer weighing in on this particular issue. it's going to be a deal breaker for some on gog, i imagine. it's not a deal breaker for me, i don't plan to buy this at all. it's not my cup of tea. i'm just not...fond? i guess, of this particular insanity creeping into gog. and yes. i'm aware that this isn't the first time we've had something like this on gog, but this is a rather high profile release. if other folks see they can weasel terms like this into gog releases, they'll do so.
the amount of negativity and nitpicking in this thread.

it's awesome that this game is here. I was fairly skeptical of this game and didn't really think very much of it because it's been hyped to all hell and it's not as if it's a major franchise.

but now that it's here I will definitely take a harder look at it and would get it here.
Awesome you were able to secure this release.
Anyways, no preorder from my side.
1st: There is no reason to, we don´t get a massive discount, which is the only thing that can convince me to preorder something!
2nd: I don´t really love the concepts.
3rd: It could be cool in the end, it could be not cool in the end ---> a classic "wait for the reviews"-situation!

You´ve got my strong support!
The game won't launch on my potato PC, but I was following it for a while. I'm against preordering, especially if there are any kind of "preorder bonus" (as it's not same as for example Kickstarter exclusive). Still, I won't judge price before release - we've got SUPERHOT with dozens of endless options and we've got dozens of 15$ games for 5hour at all. If game provides everything developer promised then 50-60$ pricetag can be understood. If not... Well, only time will tell. Still, happy that "big titles" are showing on GoG. Keep it up!

Zoidberg: I know I should have been happy to see this released here but...

1 An outrageous price, so either their scope is too big or their budget management is bad. So they'll most probably underdeliver. And personally I am not putting that budget in a unique game, indie or not...
2 Nice record on the amount paid by gog for the "fair price package", almost seven euros.
3 Not only is it a preorder but it also "offers an incentive" that is quite questionnable for my intelligence as a gamer...

I will quite gladly pass on giving my money for this kind of thing but I'm still quite disapointed to see gog so willing to play this kind of shit...

All things considered, a sad day...
How is it than I'm not surprised...

I won't reply to points 2 and 3, already did that before. But for point 1, you know that a lot of people put that amount of money for games like Just Cause or GTA (amongst many others). Since, like all of us, you have no idea of the scope of the game (which is why I would not advise to pre-order) how can you evaluate if it's not in the same league in terms of scope.

Vythonaut: Amazing catch GOG! I didn't know about the game but looks amazing and right into my alley. If the single player will be good enough and not something put into the game very hastily, I'm buying it. :)
single player and "multiplayer" (such as it is) are identical.... it's just that single player is an "offline" mode of the same game/universe
Okay, pretty banner is pretty. You got me there, GOG. Must buy.
This game is right up my alley. So torn as I rarely buy day 1. *chin stroking*

fishbaits: One worrying part:
"If you die in your Ship in space, an escape pod jettisons you to a Space Station. Whatever cargo and Resources were in your Ship and whatever data you didn't upload are gone. A basic starter Ship will get you back into action. (HG says "items" as well. Needs clarification!) "

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/739857-no-mans-sky/72722580

Does this mean upload to the internot, or just a term for upload to something in game? o0
as you explore, you gather data about the universe... names of creatures, planets, etc. that info is uploaded to the "Atlas"...the no man's sky data server. when you upload your get credits or resources as a bonus...and everyone else playing NMS online can potentially view that info.... the first person to discover anything, gets to name it and then it's locked and shown as discovered by "you".

if you die, anything that you haven't been able to save by uploading to the Atlas is lost... along with any deserved credits.

you have to find an upload link in game to save your discoveries to the Atlas in order to obtain credits.

in off line mode... your discoveries still matter locally in your game, but they're not shared or uploaded to the shared online Atlas so no one will ever know what you found, but you.

Nice! Sounds like Dark Souls, in a good way.
I thought this was a DRM'd hellzone and i would never get to play it... Seeing it on GOG makes me so incredibly happy... yes, i will buy this without reservation..

thank you, whoever you are at GOG that hunted this game out or approved its release here.

You have done what i believed to be impossible.

Niggles: Couple of things -

..snip...

Sorry BUT Is this a AAA game? .Im not the most tightass of gamers and will buy stuff at launch on occasion (hell i bought Diablo3 at launch.what a **** that was). Anyone else wondering at the pricing? (few fancy 3D graphics and "procedurally generated").

Anyone else not impressed?. hell The Witcher 3 was around $80-90 at release. what makes this game so good???

That is seriously taking the fucking piss and i thought GOG would have a) reasonably regional pricing - this is Activision level. b) What they are asking for is AAA pricing. Is this a AAA game or an indie one?.
This is a AAA from Activision. So yes? :D

I have followed this game for a year or so now, and am excited it is on gog of all platforms for delivery.

The big thing you get with this is a much bigger sandbox than a linear witcher 3 game. One of my biggest gripes with most games is previews and videos ruining the element of awe as the story unfolds.

Back in the 90's Activision was a top tier company. So I never discount them like they are something like big-fish games. :)

I did not expect this game to even get completed, still feel a bit unsure if it can deliver on promises made.
Will wait for some solid after release info before I put up this much money but sure is nice to see it on GoG!

I don't, that was the point of my post.

As for not knowing the exact scope, I agree with you, especially on not preordering because it's kind of an unknown. My judgment was done on the basis of that gameplay video one of the dev did with a journalist. Lots of show, not much substance in the end.
