It got nothing to do with the systems performance, exactly zero, it is entirely a compatibility issue. A old weak system could offer better compatibility or in other words "my system is just to futuristic for this game".
Perhaps it may run well on my weak Win 10 Notebook with an IGP, totally possible because less "exotic" hardware, so the game is not trying to create some stupid execution causing the system to malfunction because it can not translate it to any command that makes sense. Either it need an emulator or a solid environment able to make the "translation" directly in Windows, which can be difficult. Many users are having issues and many users had to use external "pad programs".
For those wo got it to work, could you name me your detailed spec along with how you was installing it?
SilentMRG: Look, I have a system here that is a real potato. Windows 7 64-bit, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and Intel HD Graphics, just to give an example. I didn't have any problems with "Soul Fixer", I just downloaded the dll and threw it into the SR2 folder, it worked the first time, perfectly. I'm sure your system is light years ahead of mine, so it's strange that you're experiencing these inconveniences. The only thing to do, if you want of course, will be to contact Gemini REbirth so they can investigate what is happening on your side.
Potato is perfect, eben better a old 3dfx Voodoo PC because this game seems nearly untouched and not adapted to a modern OS. I try to run it in Win 7 compatibility mode but currently I can not test it, no power at my home. Some electrician doing stupid things, dunno what.
Besides "Legacy of Kain: Defiance" runs great on my system without any mod. It is just those Soul Reavers being a pain. The engine surely is different.
