What possible harm can one crazy, mutant tentacle do?

Day of the Tentacle, the grand return of the grandest adventure of all, is available for pre-order now, only on GOG.com with a 10% discount for the first two weeks!

A crazy mutant tentacle is on the loose, plotting to take over the world. How you ask? That's not important right now! We need to be thinking about the how, just how are we going to fix this? Super simply, by going back to yesterday!

Alongside Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Sam & Max, and Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle sits without question among the legendary golden-era adventures. Now, straight from the early '90s, Day of the Tentacle arrives in our dystopian future of 2016 — back for a blast from the past for those who missed it, and a shot of nostalgia for those who just miss it.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is all the adventure you may remember with an optional layer of sweet improvements on top. You can mix and match between the unmistakably 1990s pixely art and a fresh high-res coat of paint, remastered audio, and an all new interface. There are extra goodies in the Remastered release as well, including in-game developer commentary and a fully playable version of the original Maniac Mansion. Your pre-order also comes with three exclusive Day of the Tentacle wallpapers, available right away to fuel your anticipation.

But don't take our word for it. Take it from the guy behind it all:

Welcome back to the Day of the Tentacle, available for pre-order now, exclusively on GOG.com! The pre-order discount will last for two weeks, until March 22, 8:59 PM GMT.

The Lucas Arts bias is real. I see through you GOG.

Vythonaut: Looks fine, looks funny (only recently i started enjoying point & click adventures) but I doubt I'll buy it soon because I find the more serious ones (crime, horror, sci-fi etc.) a lot more interesting. I purchased Monkey Island Remastered Collection on retail (before it was released on GOG) but I haven't finished it yet. The same with Grim Fandango. So, I'll consider buying it only after I sit down and play MI & GR first. And I guess it'll take me some time... :P
Played the Blackwell series yet?
Grim Randango?
I don't get it... with the Monkey Island Special Editions people complained that the new graphics were too far from the originals (which is true for the first one, but in my opinion they were a lot better in the second) and now in DOTT they are EXACTLY like the originals, just in HD, and people still complain? Really, I love the way it looks, and who doesn't like it can switch to the original graphics any time.

I'm really looking forward to this one!

But its like not jaggy and low resolution. That is not the authentic experience! *rolls eyes*

Am I the only one who'd much rather play the original for a bit less money?
Looks like March is going to be the month of adventure games for me. :) Looking forward to it. I'm curious to see whether Maniac Mansion will be extractable as it used to be in the old version.

I don't get what all the fuss is about the "OMG it looks fucking horrible now"-ness. Seriously, I think the updated art looks rather nice.

Grargar: The version should be for Mac and Linux, but GOG hasn't received all the relevant info yet.
I was curious about GOG's listing as well - GOG has a curious way of doing things at times - but, yeah, all the more recent announcements confirm that it'll be available on all OSeses.

Day Of The Tentacle FINALLY comes to GOG! YYYYYYYYIIIIIIPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE

And it comes complete with Maniac Mansion - my all-time favourite game. *does the happy dance*

Now THIS is the kind of thing that deserves to be on GOG! Couldn't resist pre-ordering.

Thankyou GOG.

buschap: Sorry if I missed this in previous posts, but as someone who didn't get to play most of these games when they were originally released, how important is playing Maniac Mansion before playing this one?

I know MM is playable within DotT, but unless they make it so you can play it from the menu...

foxworks: I never played Maniac Mansion. I think this game stands on its on very well.
it does, but since i was playing MM (maniac mansion) already on c64
MM is imho better then dott, dott is good but back then there was only MM, plus DOTT would probably never been released if MM hadn't arrived first, cause its obvious dott 'continues' so to speak, where MM left off.
This is superb news, but is the included copy of Maniac Mansion also being given the enhanced treatment with the option to switch to the original graphics? If not, why the heck not? Why focus on the sequel before the original?

For those of us that prefer it, can we also please get the stand-alone, original versions of Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle at reduced prices in the future?

Full Throttle next? ;)

But you can also play it with the old graphics. Haven't you watched the video?

Vector_Leader: Full Throttle next? ;)
Tim Schafer said so, so I guess that, eventually, yes, we'll see a Full Throttle Remaster. And then we'll have to endure all the Double Fine/Tim Schafer hate all over again. Yay for whiners not letting anyone be hyped for the games we want and love!!!

Maybe ask Tim Schafer these questions?
He has a Twitter account and he'll be on the GOGcom Twitch channel in two hours. :-)
