drmike: Yup, three folks just pm'ed me with the link saying you had posted it.

To clarify and make a very long story short, Poland is another country that says male victims don't exist and don;t offer assistance t them. That's a PC view.

We're interrupting ciemnogrodzianin's giveaway.
I honestly dont know the subject.Your article is from 2007. Maybe was some changend?.I dont know.

,,We're interrupting ciemnogrodzianin's giveaway.,,- Maybe no?:)
Thank you for the giveaway!

I'm in for Age of Decadence - that looks like a great game that somehow totally sailed by me so far.

The first thing I associate with Poland are stolen cars. Not nice and a cliché to boot, I know, but you wanted the blunt truth. :-)

The second thing would be The Witcher and the third one Barbara (a former neighbor whom I liked a lot).
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear Poland:
1) Midieval history
2) Folktales and a great oral storytelling culture (the roots of their poetry, literature and games
3) One of my best friends from childhood's Polish grandmother

Not in, but +1 for a very nice celebration giveaway. :)

Happy Constitution Day Poland!

No, it's fine. Thanks to all of you for sharing your associations and for being honest!

drmike: Another country that says there's no such thing as a male victim of domestic violence.
Regarding home violence - I am far from ignoring the problem, it exists everywhere, also in Poland, of course, however, since you have called this topic - it is worth noting that the results of researches put Poland at the forefront of the safest countries in the continent. Left-wing often tries to show traditional Polish sociaty as related with some pathologies, but such thesis are not confirmed with results of professional social researches.
As to violence against men - I admit, a lot of people do not take it serious. When I recently saw a social experiment, my reaction was similar to that of people who were recorded with a hidden camera. I believe that, fine, this may be a problem, but it seems to me rather marginal. For obvious reasons, protecting women should be a priority and reflex of standing in defense of women is strongly imprinted in Polish culture. Home violence agains men is a problem of minor importance.
Not in but Thanks for the great giveaway Ciemnogrodzianin!

As for Poland, the first word which comes to my mind is "contrasts". First get up after decades of communism to now give up to similar scum. Being proud of history and heritage and yet being ashamed that somehow Poland dissapeared from maps for about 100 years (actually nowadays it's a good idea to study why it happened so it will be easier to defend democracy from such guys like Putin). I'm happy to be a Pole, and yet sad to see to where are we going now. But I still have hope it will be good at the end. Contrasts are so human after all :)
this is the most depressing GA I've ever seen. XD

For me it's thievery in general since when you live near the border region, you see a lot more stuff getting stolen (everything from something small like bikes over fuel for machines (including threats in regards to that) to a giant air conditioner of a planetarium.

On the internet, it is PU over Lithuania (thank Europa Universalis for that).

In for Age of Decadence.

(Where is Iron Tower Studios from by the way? Doesn't really seem to be listed anywhere but I guess Eastern Europe?)

Regarding thievery - it changes with time, I believe. Car thieves are kind of history in Poland (I suppose the problem is now at similar level than European average), 10-15 years ago it was nightmare. Once they tried to steal my Fiat Maluch :D - they even got inside, but it had some non-standard protection and was saved thanks to that :) But thievery in general is still an issue and I'm afraid we've got higher than average rate.

American as far as I know (Vince Dweller certainly is). They seem to have many fans in Russia though.

Hi ciemnogrodzianin, mainly I think of some of the educated, moral and kind Polish guys I've met and the fact my Dad used to work in Poland and loved the place and the people.

I talked to one young Polish guy who told me free education is good but you need a degree to work as a shop assistant and that there are no jobs, which is why he came to England.

I feel sad Britain is coming out of the EU with it's unity with Poland and all EU countries and hope Poland doesn't suffer the same.

Negatively I think of reports of far right groups and racism that gets reported. I've come across quite racist Polish guys on the internet but that happens everywhere I know. I'd quite like to goto Poland some day but am maybe fearful of the reception my family might get as I have a Nigerian wife. Not that I have the money right now anyway.

I think of WW2 and the horror the Polish peoples suffered from and the bravery they showed.

I think of Golota and his low blows against Bowe, his fights against Lennox Lewis, Tyson, Grant, Ruiz and Byrd. I think of Adamek and his boxing career. Yes I am a boxing fan.

Anyway Happy Independence Day, I'm not in for any games.

Yeah, which is the reason why my mind went eastward. But maybe it's just that Russians love those hardcore games. They certainly have the best taste when it comes to games, in my opinion.
high rated
Not in, but great giveaway nonetheless!

Russians aren't as soft and spoilt as Westerners, so they even want their games to be extra difficult :-)

Absolutely. Most of the time when I see someone streaming hardcore dungeon crawlers, good old RPGs like Gothic or stuff like Heroes of Might & Magic 3, it's some Russian guy. They also had/have a nice Starcraft: Broodwar scene and Warcraft 3 is also still going. They prefer DotA 2 over LoL and even play the original DotA (which is the best). Can't help but feel pretty sympathetic towards that, especially when the gaming culture here kinda went down the drain. There was also somewhat of a shift towards console gaming which I blame on PC publishers refusing to sell physical games when the revenue for that was stil way higher than digital revenue.
Age of Decadence would be good. Thanx for giveaway. i am strong rpg fun. This game promising
