The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 50% off for the first time. Up to 80% off games that you'll find only on GOG.com.

Across the years, we've tracked down and recovered numerous gaming classics - those lost to time but never quite forgotten. We've tested, tweaked, and tested some more to get them up and running on your computers, free of the all-consuming hassle of virtual machines and emulators. We've done our best to deliver bonus goodies: manuals, booklets, and all the little things that gave us a sense of heft and ownership so many years ago.

We are digital archeologists, we are gaming detectives, and this week is all about the games that make GOG.com a unique place to be:

For the first time ever, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets a 50%, courtesy of our friends at CD PROJEKT RED. And while we're at it, we're throwing in the rest of the Witcher franchise along for the ride.

Four bundles, the best of those that returned, only on GOG.com:
D&D: Classic Bundle (up to -80%): featuring the classic editions of Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights - 10 games in total.
D&D: Gold Box Bundle (up to -50%): featuring three tomes of Forgotten Realms: The Archives (with Eye of the Beholder, Pool of Radiance, Dungeon Hack, and more) as well as Al-Qadim, Dark Sun, Krynn, Ravenloft, and others - 18 games in total.

Which of these goldbox games are best? Not sure which to buy, never played em before.
Oh, boy! That D&D Gold Box bundle looks so freaking tempting. I can't wait to get my hands on it but not sure I can afford $33 for it yet.

xep624: Very unexpected sale! and the discount on Witcher 3 is shocking... I thought that CD Projekt will wait a year with that huge incentive or at least until XMas during flash sales.... Wow!

HunchBluntley: They're just trying to get people to play the darned thing -- seeing as how it got reviewed so poorly, they've probably hardly been able to sell any copies at full price.

;D
Hahahaha! Nice one! BTW: That's how EA should start thinking as Battlefront Star Wars is not praised much, yet people still buy this game, because of Star Wars universe.

Ouch I'm off to bed 2.5 hours till I get up for work

Leroux: Just noticed that you let your wallet suffer with the excuse that you get a lot of games for it, when you don't even have time to play a single one. ;) Not that I'm much different, mind you. Still waiting for GOG to release extra life time.
I'd buy that too :)

Champions of Krynn was one of the first crpgs I tried. Played it on the Amiga 500. Dark Knight of Krynn as well. Of course it is very old, graphics and sounds are very oldschool. But if you like AD & D and taktical turn-based combat, its worth a try. But it can be tedious ... difficulty gets really heavy in the later stages, especially in the last part of the trilogy, Dark Queen of Krynn (i think i played this on on an old mac perform). You can spent hours and hours slashing down dragons, dark elves and other monsters. I liked it.. would i play it today? Probably not, most likely will play Baldurs gate for the 4th or 5th time instead. If it was cheaper, i might give it a try. And i know people who have the gold box cdroms and still play these games from time to time.

The Forgotten Realms series (GOG FR Archive 2) that starts with Pool of radiance startet even earlier i think. It's also a real classic and worth a try. I remember playing the first and last part of the series. Can be frustrating and unfair sometimes - tedious. But can be rewarding .... if you survive a 30min tacticel combat against hordes of opponents with three of your six party members still standing and the others can be healed or rivived on the spot. If ... save often!

And, when you start generating charakters: Take a lot of time and reroll the dice a billion times. Or modify. You'll have a lot of troubles playing on the normal difficulty level if you start the game with weak characters.

You have to remember: These are oldschool games. You won't be babysitted through the game. You will have to rest frequently to heal completely, and to memorize spells with your magic users. There will be no regenerating mana or health bars. These games are nearly as far as possible from modern crpgs like skyrim.

Yeah those were the times. We had a lot of time to kill, and kill we did: Goblins, Orcs, Draconians, Undead Knights ... ;)

Greetings

Classic D&D and Warhammer bundles: already have everything from there.

I got the Star Trek and Goldbox bundles. The ST bundle was a no-brainer, but I had to think over the Godlbox one, as its price is quite high still (admittedly with lots of old games), and frankly I am not quite convinced if I really will play the games, at least all of them... But for historical reasons, ok. I'll just skip lunches for the next week, that should save me the same amount of money.

Already have all The Witchers, except the adventure game... Not sure if I'd like it, so I have to think about it more.

Other than The Witcher 2 what are the chances to see the other versions coming to Linux?
Initially was going to preorder The Witcher 3, then GOG announced a €20 expansion. So I didn't.

Then on sale back to around preorder price in the autumn. There was no "play first" incentive that time, so it was still too rich for me.

Now 50% off for the first time! Well, the percentage means nothing, it's the price (and a price that's already been beaten by Amazon for the physical product). Now, with Xmas fast approaching, I've run out of time to dedicate late evenings to an RPG. So I might as well wait for the Xmas sales.

Xmas sales: 75%? Well, I expect a 60% first, perhaps in a 40%/60% bundle with the Witcher Adventure Game and the expansion packs. Which would equal another wait because the "price" won't be much better :/

Problem is, in years gone by, I've gotten so used to offers I just couldn't refuse from GOG... :P I'm sure CDPR are correct in their marketing strategy and will reap as much as they can from this game - but right now it's irritating!! :D

p.s. will pass on the Star Trek point-and-clicks too because of their bundle-discount lock. Boo! :( ;)

Yep I'm weak, I bought the bundles. When I noticed some of the D&D games were in fact bundles themselves I couldn't help myself. Of course that is even more games and no time.
The Warhammer bundle is temping but all the user reviews saying 3/4 games don't work is rather discouraging. Still wanting to play SOTHR again after all this time :(

Niggles: Wondering what the point of this sale is when xmas sale is around the corner?

mrkgnao: To steal money from Steam's Black Friday sale.
Ah, I was wondering if GOG was going to do anything for Black Friday. Not a bad offering, if one doesn't already have the games. And I'm sure it's made quite a few people feel foolish for buying cheap Witcher 3 keys from unauthorised dealers and getting cheated, when they could have just waited a little and gotten it properly now.
Seems like waiting is rewarding. Just bought The Witcher 3 and the expansion. 50% off for a game that is released this year is a good deal, though you might wonder why it's 50% already. Yes, the expansion is 11% off, but it's a decent discount, lowering the price to about €8 ,89, whether often the price of an expansion is above €20.
I'm also glad the expansion is available outside the season pass, cause i hate season pass. I won't forget what gearbox did with borderlands 2. I do hope the second expansion is also available as a seperate product. I also got €1,10 extra discount, so in the end i had to pay €38,88 for both the witcher 3 and the expansion hearts of stone.
Compare that with any other game that is released not long ago and got an expansion. EA, Activision, Ubisoft and Capcom won't do this.
I only hope that Divinity: Origin Sin Enhanced Edition will get a discount as well.
Why you do this to me now? all 3 expire before I get paid:
Gold Box Bundle + Warhammer Bundle + Star Trek Bundle

And I all ready told myself I will only spend my December budget buying gifts for others, so even if the sale eneded early December I still won't buy it for myself.

Tis ok, backlog is bigger then I want it to be.

**dramatically reaches hand out
A welcome sale, but oddly named "Only on GOG" considering several titles are not exclusive to GOG.

Come on . Do you know any Steam user who bought the non-Steam version of TW games just because they are on sale on Gog ?
