misteryo: If anyone expected Obsidian to make a purely nostalgiac game, they were deluding themselves.
Really? The Kickstarter was pure 100% nostalgia, it was only later that the changes starting happening.
Well animated GIF from the folks at GAF:

Nice.....
Does anyone know if they have a composer yet? Seems like the music in the trailer was just done by their in-house audio guys

I thought so. It was good for a trailer, but you'd think they'd need an actual composer if they want over an hour of music for in-game. That Bell guy is good but he's no Jeremy Soule or Mark Morgan.

It does sound like they are using Bell + others. But yeah Soule (surprised they didnt have him as a milestone) or Mark (guess he is too busy)
Looks pretty pimp to me.

Keep budget perspective.

Crosmando: "Pillars of Eternity" sounds quite uninspired, almost like the project has spent so long as "Project Eternity" they didn't want to change it much. The 2D backgrounds look awesome, it's the 3D models of the characters and animations that look a bit whonky, the 3D spell effects also look a bit weird.
I wouldn't be too concerned yet. Keep in mind that this is at best a pre-alpha stage.
The music really is my least favourite part of the trailer. It sounds like stock epic muzak. And while the actual name is uninspired, I guess it fits.

Or Koji Kondo or Nobuo Uematsu or who ever wrote music for WOW.

My thoughts exactly. I have no complaints whatsoever as far as visuals are concerned, but the music accompanying the video feels really uninspired in comparison.
Well, it looks like it will be exaclty what I expected. Contrary to Torment.
2nd part of the interview:

Finally, got around to watching the video. It looks amazing to me, I can't wait. Back to the glorious 2D backgrounds and away from that horrible camera angle that Neverwinter Nights had to introduce.

No sign of the UI on the teaser. I really wanted to see what was in store for us with the inventory system and the stats. I guess it's still a little early for that.

But the spell effects were great and seeing the improved resolution over the original IE games makes me want to put a desktop computer together with a large screen or three instead of playing it on my laptop.

I may be upping my pledge on this as I was a slacker backer. I also wouldn't mind a boxed copy.
