Would have been 7 hours if they had announced Steam and non-Steam versions right from the start XD

Wow that was quick for full funding, when I checked last night it was at about 83% (so in less than 10 hours it went to just over 100%)

I'd be really surprised to learn they didn't expect that outcome. I admit that it still is much faster than I originally thought, but I never had a single doubt that the project would get fully funded much before the deadline.
The only question is how high the amount will go at the end. Will it surpass Wasteland 2?

This, and I will keep this thread in my favorites and the kickstarter page on my radar to see if they change their stance regarding steam.

The thing is that EA earned ~ $ 200,000,000 on ME3 so this number is not an argument for them.

Obsidian just Twitted... Er, Tweeted that an update will be coming very soon. Said they definitely didn't expect to get funded so quickly, either.

Cool article on Forbes regarding this particular kickstarter project as well as DRM, kickstarters in general, and a possible indicator of the future of the gaming industry.

For all those who don't like Steam, did you read the actual FAQ lines at the bottom of the Kickstarter page? In other words, it's not necessarily going to be Steam exclusive. Exploring other options is likely to come after being funded and they know they're going to make the game, and is then dependent on contracts being worked out or whatever. All of that.

Not that I know whether other options will pan out, but Obsidian is not hell-bent on being Steam-exclusive just to screw with people. >.>

Well, it's funded, so maybe they can tell us now.

It grates on my nerves to support Obsidian in this, these guys are so fucking terrible at releasing buggy games, I shiver to think what their games will be like without a publisher forcing a certain amount of quality control. This is the reason they're getting 20 bucks instead of 100 or more.

I will quote the kickstarter description: Hopefully that means an entirely new engine, IE 2.0 or whatever they will call it. If I recall wasn't Onyx used for Dungeon Siege III? It might've worked fair for a linear action-RPG but for this kind of project, hopefully something more inspiring will be made.

When Hidden Path did this (despite actually stating they would be developing a new engine and all new assets) people had a serious problem with it.. funny how expectations are shaped by our preferred devs.
