So, Obsidian has shown a demo to the media during E3.
I'll post all the links to the articles I found in the E3 preview thread on the Pillar of Eternity forums.
It has been noted that some of the articles contain some minor mistakes, so you should check the wiki or the thread if something seems fishy (yeah, no ghost bleach, sorry :D).

And of course, there will be some minor spoilers ahead, like how the game begins. Here's the spoiler-y accounting of the beginning (about which most articles are talking about, anyway) and here's a smaller summary and some other talk about features and so on.

And now, for the articles:
RPGamer video interview with Josh
Games.cz (in Czech, of course :D)
Linux Games
GameReactor.eu
Shack News
Nerd Reactor
PCGames.de (German)
GamersGlobal.de (German)
Gameranx
Gamecrate
MMORPG.com
Gaming Illustrated
Everyeye.it (Italian)
Kotaku
Escapist Magazine
The Sixth Axis
Joystiq
PC World
Polygon
PC Gamer

Also, I read in the thread I posted above that the non-English articles were more accurate, but have yet to read any of them, so I guess I'll go at it now.

Will also ask for a thread title change ( "Pillars of Eternity (aka Project Eternity, an Obsidian Kickstarter)" sounds good, doesn't it?)

Maybe someone will mod in ghost bleach after launch. :-)

In a game with the themes of PoE, the opportunity for puns about cleansing the soul would be too good to pass up.
No one mentioned that the game only has 5 skills, that is very streamlined.

Also, one thing none of those articles seems to indicate is whether the game will be linear like BG or more open-world. The way those "scripted events" work makes me suspicious that the game will use a more compact format where certain events happen in certain chapters or something.

What do you mean with only 5 skills? Only five skills you can employ at the same time?
With so many games around I always forget what features one game has and what the other does!

Oh and, I saw on the Wasteland 2 Forums that you've played the game quite a bit, would you mind writing up a kind of review or something in the Wasteland thread? Like, pros & cons, what you particularly like and so on. And if it lives up to the expectations you had.
Just watching a stream on twitch.tv at the moment and I have to say that I like what I see.

Yeah I got a bit angry about that. One article mentions PoE has five skills: Stealth, Athletics, Lore, Mechanics and Survival.

Granted the game has like 11 classes, but it's disappointing (to me) that they didn't try for a more robust skill list. I think even Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect had more than that. Probably the biggest is no Stealing skill, so I can't play my trusty rogue who pickpockets everyone in town :(

As for WL2, yes Steam says I have about 200 hours on it, my thoughts on it are scattered around the WL2 forums. The weakness of WL2 is "windy" maps which take a long time to traverse, and the fact that the content/quests are spread out thinly across these maps, meaning backtracking (but this can't really be changed seeing as the maps are final). Also status effects don't really do anything because they wear off too quickly. Stuff like "Bleeding" wearing off in 40 seconds or "Brain Damage" lasting a bit over 4 minutes (lol). That's the biggest one, status effects in WL2 are currently dumb, I've submitted suggestions to InXile about it multiple times though, I hope they fix it for release.

Anyway this is the PoE thread.

Some tabletop RPGs are like this - I HOPE it's not a case of "No Stealing" and more like - okay you want to steal? Roll against Stealth and Athletics. Survival is an odd one - maybe that's like a Endurance / Constitution / Poison etc roll?

That's why I suggested posting something like that in the W2 thread :D

Here's more info on skills and in this 2013 RPS article stealing is at least being mentioned (on the gamepedia page too).
I wouldn't lose hope that they just left out stealing just yet. They might be implementing skills, attributes and talents a bit differently.

I personally don't have any big opinions on this - as I always say, I just hope they'll implement nicely and that there's still enough freedom given to us by the skills/talents/attributes etc. we'll be able to employ.

That stuff irks me. You have antivenom, fly bile, bandages and other items, but the affect is over after battle. What's the point of carrying that stuff around if by the time you use it the affect is over.
And a broken leg lasts for maybe 10 turns of what I assume is hopping around...reduced movement. Got that from kicking in a door with someone without a brute force.

It's a travesty that an RPG does not have any speech related skill or speech related check. I got a feeling it's somewhere in the game where it's unannounced or not revealed as yet or it might be tied directly to attributes. I don't think anyone is that dumb enough to design an old-school RPG without speech skills.

So according to that link Reever posted, lockpicking is tied to mechanics and so are traps.

By that logic, maybe speech is part of Lore since a person who knows more could be more persuasive. I'd also be very surprised if it's not in there somewhere.
For a project that updated backers in a lot of details from day one, it would be surprising if there were so few skills in the final game
I think those 5 skills are the "major skills" shared by every class. The classes might have their own class specific skills. It's also mentioned on the preview that there is a demeanor system for discussions, which effects the way conversations go and how the people will react on you, so it does seem the system has more in it than just "5 skills".
Mm this game I hope is worth the hype, I wanted to get it since it's announcement.

"There have been some questions about why we chose to do a closed door demo for the press and have not released footage from the demo. While the demo looked great, there are still parts of the game that need more polish before we release videos to the public. In addition, a lot of the demo footage was filled with spoilers and we would like to show off portions that are less critical to the story. Look for a video that shows some non-spoiler, polished gameplay sometime in the next couple of months."

Guess we have to wait a while more for the gameplay footage.
