Please don't. Rather, please help it not happen. The less Beamdog paid mods on GOG, the better.

+1

Though I already own all of the Infinity Engine games as well as Neverwinter Nights, I am not at all keen for the Enhanced Edition to arrive here. If the Enhanced Edition version ever did go on sale here, it would mean that people could no longer buy the original by itself, which is an exclusively negative propsect. Replacing classic games with vastly more expensive "enhanced" versions that include the originals as an extra is a slap in the face to GOG's original mission statement, and should never have been tolerated. I signed up on GOG to buy classic games for fair prices, not be extorted into paying a premium for them.

(On that note, Disney's Lion King, Aladdin, and Jungle Book should all be $6, not $10.)

I hope that NWN-EE eventually reaches GOG's shores. It will allow people who are not tied down by the past to enjoy classic games.

What's stopping them enjoying these classics right now, you can buy it from here right now, there is no difference to the EE version anymore than other beamdog "enhancements" have been different other than a higher price.

The EEs didn't bring a noticeable ammount of new players to these games. They just ended up catering to the already existing communities. This whole EE ordeal was just a mechanism Wizards of the Coast employed to have more direct control over their products.

Games get old, and their technical foundations become increasingly incompatible with modern platforms. There is many "under the hood" changes that won't be apparent to the typical player, beyond the game simply working as intended.

Be it source ports or emulation, the point of the exercise is to ensure that the general public can still enjoy older games.

Beamdog did absolutely nothing to improve Neverwinter Nights, though. Imean, it's even less than the "enhancements" they applied to the IE games. The only thing they did was slapping a pricetag in content that was previously available for free.

paladin181: There are plenty of places for that. This is for discussion of Whether there's any new of the status of the game coming here, and anything we can do to help this along.

Your welcome. Always happy to oblige the community here.

The Diamond edition modules were free with the game. The ones they sold separately are different from those.

They enhanced the multiplayer greatly, and the mod framework and toolkit.

NWN:EE - Release Notes PDF

You have a funny definition of "absolutely nothing".

Justify a money grab is what your talking about. Adding a graphic mods and adding some steam functionality does not, at least to me, justify "enhanced". A free patch to make the existing, perfectly working, without drm' modding on workshop, would be roundly lauded as great and helping the game prosper. Removing the working fine original, in place of one twice the price which is virtually identical however should be derided and reviled, as goes for anyone supporting such a scam. And yes, since their success at making money from old rope, there are now lots of other companies jumping on the band wagon.

They've broken "Stunning Fist"... It was a bit cheesy though.
Considering that the number of people who can play the classic Infinity games on Modern Computers is vastly larger than the number of people who can play EEs on modern games without any problem, I am having trouble seeing it as an enhancement.

Still, I believe people should be able to choose so I hope NWN: EE comes here someday. Of course, the original should be kept separately. If you count in the mods, NWN: EE is 6 times more expensive than NWN: Diamond.

People who don't want Enhanced Edition may simply not buy it, I guess?

I am going to buy EE, because I liked every other EE Beamdog has released and I also hope Beamdog is going to create their own stories and modules.

Siege of Dragonspear for Baldur's Gate was pretty damn good (definitely better than official expansion for BG1)

I also hope for Icewind Dale 2 enhanced ...

Really, so against all previous releases they will not remove the current fully working version when the enehanced is realeased (at several more times the cost). I would be very suprised if that was the case.
Not played SoD, no need to, the storyline was finished in the originals without any need for some half baked attempt to shoehorn extra bits in.

I thought they did a good job on Icewind Dale, but having played their EEs of BG1 and part of BG2, I don't really see that they're any better than the modded originals (and the added content in BG1 was not very good, IMO).I've not yet played SoD.

Not going to happen. Apparently the source code for the game is lost, so there's not going to be an EE for that one.
