I have few of my favorite horror movies:
* Mirrors ( and [url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1576699/?ref_=tt_rec_tt]2) - great movies! I let myself be afraid to look into mirrors for a few days after watching the first movie.
* I Spit on Your Grave (2010). Shocking and horrifying in two ways: gruesome behaviour of men and a terrifying revenge on them.
Pumpkinhead, a slash horror I would recommend
Cannibal Holocaust

Warning : Cruelty towards wild animals inside !

I actually have the 2 disc version of that. I was really surprised that it actually had a story and how it turned on the "traditional villain" role.

Elmofongo: The Woman in Black.

darthspudius: I already covered Hammer Horror! Bow to me minion mwhahaha!

The Babadook was quite good. I wasn't expecting much from it but it fairly made us uncomfortable.
darth I am sorry but what the hell are you talking about?

The Woman in Black, poking fun at the fact that the recent version was a Hammer Horror... I'm guessing they didn't make it over there. :/ Saying that a quick google would of answered your question! :P

Barely a horror movie by most people's standards I guess but one film I always recommend in this context is Vacancy. IMO very well written. Not a gorefest at all but definitely very intense. I've watched dozens of horror films with my GF (who generally loves them) and out of all of them this is the one that made her almost pee herself. Probably because it's quite realistic and believable.

I recently saw that and I really enjoyed it. You're right that it's barely a horror film but if will definitely scare the shit out of you, especially if you travel a lot.

Or are an innkeeper. *ahem*

Suddenly I wonder if you also wear the kind of pedophile glasses the innkeeper in the movie has.
Evil dead. =)

darthspudius: You know something. I quite liked a lot of the later Hellraiser movies. Especially the one with the Cop and the one with the lassy from the original. I think that was Hellraiser V and VI.
Hell on Earth and Bloodlines were too slasher-y for my taste. Inferno and Hellseeker were pretty neat (one was about a cop and one about Kirsty's husband). Deader could've been nice if they gave some backstory to non-Le Merchant magic. Hellworld was just terrible. Revelations, well, for what I know it's pretty low budget and bad, but it tries to link the series back to the original mythology. Haven't seen this one, nobody dared to release it in Poland as far as I know :).

XD I'm wearing reading glasses right now but that's only because I'm typing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all fucked up, but when you stay at my place the only real threat you face are drunk snowmobiliers and wolves.
