Fever_Discordia: I haven't played it myself either, to be fair, it does also say 'story rich'
How would you categorise Realms of the Haunting if it weren't here is maybe the question? (if you've played that?)
I haven't :p

Gandos: If anything, the fact that the original Diablo has more votes than its sequel somewhat restored my faith in humanity.
Vacuous inane shallow nonsense does that for you? Incredible. Even more faith lost.

Dude, Diablo rocks.

Fever_Discordia: Errm I think 'Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth' is more of a survival horror / FPS type affair

damien: this one is very hard to decide. I have read articles claiming this is more adventure/puzzle than shooter and that's why I considered it as one. but I'm open to hearing more opinions as I haven't played the game myself.
It's indeed hard to decide. I have a retail version, which I played. I'd say it's an action-adventure in the beginning and towards the end it's a shooter. Puzzles can be found through the entire game. And you also got some stealth elements.

I'm not familiar with your perspective on the game and I don't wish to jump to conclusions, but I'd like to take a moment to examine that statement of yours.

"Shallow"...yes, I suppose in certain aspects, the original Diablo is indeed very much a shallow game. The combat is too repetitive and simplistic by modern standards (even the standards of the ARPG sub-genre), the RPG mechanics are simple and rudimentary to the point that the game barely qualifies as an RPG, the "overworld" (if you can call it that) is small and doesn't offer a lot of content and the multiplayer is both crude and completely broken.

All of those are true. However, I don't think you'll find many people who will deny that. More to the point, though, none of those areas are where the original Diablo's true strength lies. Instead, it lies in other things...namely, the music, the art direction, the atmosphere and the precarious balance it manages to strike between action and horror.

Oh and by the way....I said that the original Diablo being above Dibalo II is what somewhat restored my faith in humanity. I didn't say Diablo should be on top of the RPG list., especially since (as I already mentioned) it barely qualifies as one. :P
Missing stuff, Superior Versions...
Star Wars: X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM entered the list (now stands on top of the list), pushing Neverwinter Nights: Infinite Dungeons out.

Pillars of Eternity now has its own release page and therefore left the list. Serpent in the Staglands entered the list.

Dead State is now released and therefore left the list. Prison Architect entered the list.
This question is to anyone who has played Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 2 has enough votes to make into both Action and Adventure lists. As I said before, I have to choose one genre over the other in every games for the purposes of this list and in some cases this can be quite difficult.

I have played Silent Hill 1 and I would consider the original more an adventure game than Action. However, I have never played the second game and would appreciate any comments to help me decide.
I have read on several reviews that Silent Hill 2 has more adventure elements than action. So I will list it under Adventure if there are no convincing objections :)
Adventure
Grim Fandango, well not the actual game people have voted for but Grim Fandango Remastered is now officially confirmed for release. GOG has arbitrarily changed the entry on the wishlist from "Grim Fandango" to "Grim Fandango Remastered" and will mark it as completed, therefore it will have to leave the list.

The No.1 most wished game in this category is now The Curse of Monkey Island. All hail the new king!
Silent Hill 2 entered the list and stands on No.8.

Discworld now has more votes than Dune.

tinyE: is B&W 2 that bad?
I was lucky, when it got released I rented it from the local video store to check it out and the DRM back then (next to SecureROM) checked what other applications I run on my system. It found SlySoft Virtual CD and refused to install if I would not uninstall that driver from my computer.
Well that was all my experience with B&W2, the first part is very enjoyable!
Space and Flight Sim/Shooter and other Sim
Star Wars: X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance and Star Wars: X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter: Balance Of Power Campaigns have all been released and left the list.

SimTower: The Vertical Empire, Starlancer and Crimson Skies entered the list.

Missing stuff, Superior Versions...
I don't know if there is something wrong with my computer or if it is another attempt by GOG to manipulate the wishlist. buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut......

Star Wars: X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM with the most votes under this category (definitely more than 1100 votes) seems to be removed. But I don't care, I will keep it here anyway and it will stay on top of this list until released :)
