Thanks once again. :)

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 3.7.0 has been released with the following features:

* Added a big table (table VIII) to the metrics page, listing all the current GOG price regions and which countries belong to which region (for practically all the countries in the world)
* Added five new regions being monitored for regional pricing: Non-EU Western Europe (CH), EU Central Europe (CZ), EU Eastern Europe (RO), Norway (NO), Sweden (SE)
* Changed Poland (PL) to be a region all by itself, rather than representing Eastern and Central Europe
Cheers, mrkgnao, great work with Table VIII. Not surprisingly, the Former Soviet Union (RU) has the most favourably regionally priced games, but I'm a bit surprised to see that the United Kingdom (GB) has the most unfavourably regionally priced ones.

And one question - I remember that when AoW3 was released, a number of Asian and African countries got the higher price. Is I assume it's not the case anymore and that's why they're now listed in the Rest of the World (US) region?

As suggested by Cavalary, I will be adding a column that lists the mean regional price for each region relative to the US price (e.g. +20%, -80%).

If it was indeed as you say (I don't remember), it is no longer so.

I actually meant "most" in terms of total number of titles, not price points. But that metric would be very interesting to have.

It was, see here.

Very interesting. I wonder whether it was a GOG bug or a change of mind on the part of Triumph Studios.
I would guess the former.

As some of you know (see some details here), I have been trying to add a new feature to MaGog that would scan my own game library and detect changes in my game files (to act as a poor man's replacement for the GOG update notification system).

Well, I have implemented much of it already, but yesterday ran into some problems. You can get the details from the message I just sent to GOG support:

========================================================

"Subject: I believe my IP address has been blocked

Hello,

I am the person behind MaGog (see http://www.gog.com/forum/general/community_stickies_compendium_40/post1 if you don't know what MaGog is).

Yesterday I have added some code to MaGog's database manager in order to scan my own GOG library (i.e. the one attached to the "mrkgnao" user ID account) so as to identify changes in my games' files on a daily basis.

What my code does (from a perl script, not a browser) was:
1) log in to my account from the MaGog server
2) get the list of games I own via regular web access (https)
3) collect information about the files belonging to the games I own (file name, file size, and modification time), again via regular web access (https)

After testing it on a dozen games, I enabled the scanning. It worked fine initially, but after about 70 games (of 800+) it stopped working.

From examining the web responses I get, I believe you may have blocked the MaGog server from accessing GOG. As far as I can determine, this affects all access to my account's games, as well as all access to the GOG forums.

<technical details snipped>

I would be grateful if you would:
1) Unblock MaGog's server's IP address(es) to allow it to access GOG's forums again
2) Allow MaGog's server to access my own game files without blocking it in the future (if necessary, I will gladly submit MaGog's code for examination).

Please do so (especially unblocking the current block) as soon as possible to allow MaGog to function properly.

Please note that I will be on holiday from 25 December to 11 January, without email access. Please do NOT delay the unblocking until I return as MaGog itself is not on holiday.

Thank you,
mrkgnao"

========================================================

I am not entirely sure exactly what portions of MaGog's current scanning abilities have been blocked. The one thing I already know is that MaGog's access to the forums is blocked, which means that new games added to the catalogue will not have a forum link (old games shouldn't be affected). I hope that's all, but I am often surprised when it comes to GOG.

As I will be on holiday in the upcoming 2.5 weeks, I'll try to sort things out when I return.

P.S. Akalabeth is missing from GOG's catalogue pages
Wow. The plot thickens. Thank you for the update and I hope you enjoy your break.
That's unfortunate to say the least. Fingers crossed that GOG will unblock everything MaGog related.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a blast on your holiday!
