It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I wont be using it, I have no need of a client to play games and the only MP I do is in MMO's.
using it from alpha and it's a nice cleanup of icons from my desktop but HATE how every game takes forever to download on that thing so what I do is download straight from the site and put it into galaxy.

It's clean I give it that but with a good half a year with more updates and moving things around I can see it being a way better client than origin, Yeah I went there COME AT ME BRO at least it is not the steam program ugh -_-

F4LL0UT: I fail to see how they force us to since both the Downloader and Galaxy are optional.
Access and usage of the downloader has been made tediously unpractical, not to mention its discontinuity. That 'freedom' is purely formal.
Although galaxy has some issues i quite like it and will be using it from now on.
Not even going to try it until I hear on good authority that it's stable and functional (and if the state of the wesite is anything to go by, I expect that will be several months after the end of the beta).

But even then, I'm not into the social aspect of gaming, don't want to chat while I'm playing or letting people see what I'm doing, and more in general I'm not really keen on using yet another client. I'll just use it as a downloader, provided it performs as good as the old one.

Telika: 1) Even though gog forces us to, I prefer to not rely on beta software.

Then use the gog downloader and see. You're "technically" free to, it's just made discouragingly tedious.

I have it installed but am not using it. Fiddled with it from alpha through beta and I'm not crazy about it. I think it is a nice platform for those who use steam...
I'll give it another chance when the final version comes out.

They just said they discontinued the downloader, and that Galaxy would be optional (meaning the officially supported alternative is using the browser).
Is downloading tens of gigs via Firefox a good option? Certainly not, and they're counting on that to get more people to use Galaxy, but technically it's not like they lied or something.
Installed it and tinkered little around it, but I'm not using it regularly yet.

phaolo: Not compatible to my CPU, but I could use it in the future.

enigmaxg2: Do you have an Athlon XP [..]
Since Galaxy uses the damn Chrome engine (which removed support for non-SSE2 processors), you're out [..]
Exactly! Ah, so it's Chrome's fault grrr

I'm not a lawyer (nor a jesuit), I don't care if "technically they didn't lie". You can use dishonest, manipulative, phrasings or presentations of stuff without "technically lying". "You remain free to (...)" is a hypocrisy beyon d some level of twisting your arm into making the other choice.
Installed it, but still playing the game directly and not through the client.

Maybe in the future I'll use it when I have more installed games for updates and stuff.
Normally, I'd just ignore the client, since there is nothing I need from it. But with the last "good news" changes in the past, I think this optional client will only be optional as long as a certain percentage of users don't use the client. Once this minority reaches a certain threshold, there will be another "good news" post where GOG is telling everyone that "two indepentdant systems are not profitable and we want to bring you the best experience and blablabla".

I know that I will most problably get the shits for it, but that is my opinion.

BranjoHello: Installed it and tinkered little around it, but I'm not using it regularly yet.
You really don't have to use it regularly like you do with Steam, Origin or Uplay. The thing is it's essentially just the old downloader with optional client features and a new ui, so if you just want to download your games and install them through it or just download a installer like you would the downloader and nothing else, you can. Just because you could use it for other things doesn't mean you have to or feel obligated to do so.

Having read this thread it feels like people miss that point(that when it's finished it will just be a fancier downloader with optional client crap you can just disable). I guess it's due to the stigma that comes with the "Client" label thanks to Steam, Origin, ect. at least that how it reads to me at any rate.
