OldFatGuy: I get that, but just wanted to point out that a vast majority of that re-downloading was unnecessary. For example, see my screenshot. I had 56 games marked as updated (because I learned some time ago that most of those weren't really updates to the games)
Out of the 56 marked as updated, only 6 had actual changes to the games. 6 out of 56. That meant to keep the games themselves updated, it only required re-downloading about 10% of the time something was marked as updated. Of the rest, 2 were for Linux versions added (no need to re-download if you're not using Linux), 1 was for a language addition (no need to re-download unless that was a language you were interested in) and 1 was for a 32-bit patch (no reason to re-download it unless you're using a 32-bit OS). So that's only 10 of the 56 that even had anything at all in terms of changes. All the rest were (I'm assuming here, so someone may correct me if I'm wrong) simply updates to the installer itself (so that when you're installing the game, the ads you see while it's installing are updated).
Yes, of course I knew that an update wasn't necessarily a full update. You had to check and see for every game. how they made you do it drove me insane, however!
Before the site had been redisigned (before the look of the library in your screenshot), all you had to go on was the numbered tag next to the link, 'Account' on the front page to show that you had X number of updated games at log in.
...Then you'd go into your library to click on another link to see which games they were talking about.
...Then you had to go into each forum for each game to actually see if there was a thread pertaining to the latest update to find out what the update actually was, OR there was a super-thread on the board that would show which games were updated + changelogs for that day/week/month.
...then once you decided that you were going to make the download, back to the library!
Lather, Rinse, repeat!
...but then what would happen if you hadn't been on in a looong time? You'd be going around in circles for a very long time, right?
It was just very tedious because you could not just go to the game in your library and immedately see the version number + changelog.
and don't get me started on the posted version numbers as opposed to the internal versions they would name the executable files...
Now I don't have to whine anymore! I'm much happier now that they've begun to straighten this issue out. They are almost there! My opinion is a new changelog should not be hidden. After you select your game,it should be right under a news blog section for that particular product, front and center. They don't need to bury it under 'view downloads' then 'more' then 'changelog'.
