Riding the intergalactic highway.

Master of Orion: Collector's Edition, the glorious return of the legendary 4X strategy, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Owners of any of the previous installments get a permanent 5% discount.

Most strategy-inclined kids have at some point in their lives dreamt of becoming the true Master of Orion. To conquer a whole galaxy through sly negotiations, intense technological research, or even all-out war. Now the dream is coming back to life, as you will once again ride your customizable ship(s) and throw yourself at a vast network of almost 100 solar systems, populated by the alien races that franchise veterans fell in love with.

Developers NGD Studios have already enlisted a star-studded cast of acclaimed voice-actors to breathe life into these characters and make interactions as fun as the addictive gameplay that players have come to expect from a true Master of Orion successor. Currently, the game includes six out of the ten alien races and several features (like certain victory conditions) will remain unavailable, as the developers aim to keep polishing the game with the help of their community.

Engage in interstellar warfare and limitless exploration in the vivid new Master of Orion: Collector's Edition, DRM-free on GOG.com. This edition includes the three vintage Master of Orion games and eventually it will also feature a wonderful Digital Art Book, the game's orchestral soundtrack, an additional race, and more. Those who already own any of the original Master of Orion games on GOG.com, get a permanent 5% discount.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
Like many others, the idea to buy a game "in development" is not really appealing to me. Moreover, In this specific case, the collector edition's bonusses would be a bit redundant. So, wishlisting it for the time being.
MoO 2 may be my favourite space 4X, but since it's still perfectly playable right now, I don't think I'm all that interested in a remake, especially not to the tune of $50.
And I dislike buying pre-access games anyway.

I'll wait and see until release, I guess.

Making a full-page advert for a game that isn't even finished seems a bit over the top, btw.

The big banner or better background on the main page is misleading customers. You should call a game early access, when it is in early access and not another invented phrase. especially when it costs 43,79 €.

The nest question I have is, if when the game is finished, will I get the whole game or are there any follow up DLCs planned for release like in Galactic Civilizations? Which would at the moment add up to around 90 € to get it complete.

It's already saying now in development ?
In Development is GOGs version of Early Access. They probably HAD to call it something different to avoid trouble with Steam.

I am just mentioning it, because you can buy the game without even seeing the games page, where the phrase "The future is ours - now in development." is explained. As early access is a more known phrase for a game which is still in beta or has no legal drive to be finished I would prefer it.

Zoidberg: Yeah, there's not even a need to display such an obnoxiously big banner, and also it should be reserved for releases, not preorders or early access. What's next? Bigger ads for kickstarter-liked games? Meh... :/

synfresh: I wouldn't be very surprised if the publisher had a say in this as part of their contract and it being sold here.
Got me there...

I wouldn't be surprised if the publisher pays GOG for the ad space, which effectively means that the full-page banner is being paid by the goglodytes who have volunteered to beta-test (and advertise) the game.

Such a shame. Seing Master of Orion in the Upcoming section for so long and when the announcement comes we discover there's no turn-based battles.

I was about to say the same thing.

It's only a matter of time:

Real time tactical battles?

Thanks but no thanks.
Nobody is a bigger MoO lover than me.

So. This.

Real-time battles?

But can I throw birds as weapons? At least tell me the game is free, but I have to keep paying real cash for in-app money any time I actually want to do anything fun.

Any candy matching? Anything?

Then f*** this.
