It's unfortunate but seems GOG just does not care about the games they redistribute? They have had misleading titles as the old Star Wars space sim suggested , and too many games are just broken and do not get fixed.

I've been burned a few times, one game that comes to mind is Star Trek 25th, the game for me has to be played with a keyboard , even though it has a mouse interface. The mouse Interface is just broken.

I've also seen many reviews of games that get released broken and never fixed? Why release them then? GOG used to take their time and make sure what we were getting was a fully functional solid game, and GOG built trust with gamer's .

It seems GOG no longer cares if what they sell works? I think I'll be keeping my money , thanks GOG.

The Betrayal at Krondor is still not fixed it seems ? The reviews about it being broken go back over five years, and the newest review for the game at '14 still says it's broken.

It has not been my experience at all with GOG games. They tend to drag behind for patches, but in terms of the games working, I find they offer a very consistent robust experience.

In particular, I found that their efforts for making installations that work out of the box for aging games and Linux has been better than other distributors I sampled. They won't fix broken code, but if there is a workaround that allows the game to work, they'll include it in the installer so you won't have to search it on Google and do it yourself like I've had to do for some games from other stores.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience has not been as good. Just thought I'd offer a counter-point to your statement.

Betrayal at Krondor broken? What is broken about it? I recall Betrayal at Antara had/has an issue with a temple missing, but I've played the GOG version of Betrayal at Krondor and don't recall anything being broken. Could you refresh my memory for me?

And did you contact Support at all for help?

Also, GOG is limited in what they can fix, and the multiple combinations of hardware/software makes it difficult to guarantee a game will run on all machines.
I'd love to get a look at the OP's system because all those games work great for me and my rig is a piece of shit. :P

Judging by the first reviews, it seems he's talking about Betrayal in Antara.

GOG posted a workaround for the issue with BiA, if that's what you're referring to. Due to the nature of the problem though, it seems they can't incorporate an actual fix into the GOG version of the game. At least, that's what I read.

Other than Star Trek, what games have you had issues with? And, as asked, did you contact Support about these games and issues?

Do note that GOG does offer a refund if you cannot get a game to run on your system and none of their suggestions get it working for you. I think that's pretty fair service and should go a long way towards gaining your trust for their games.

Have you tried making threads in the general discussion for games that don't work. In 99% of the cases, the fixes are very simple, and someone around usually know them .

Likewise, I still run XP SP2 on a laptop that has two broken fans and 2 missing keys.

If I can run this shit then anyone can.
If you've been unable to get a game to work, have you contacted Support? If the game will not work at all and Support is unable to fix it, you should be able to get some kind of refund.
More importantly,

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean or refer to.

this.
I got a problem with Legend of Kay... after I contact gog support I got help and since it was a bug for the mac version of the game I got a full refund (not just store credits).
when I got a problem with audio from Tales of monkey island, telltale games did not help me (they said to me, "if you want to play our game without bug ask a refund to gog and buy from steam or our website", while gog give to me the audio fix (it seem telltale don't want to update their broken game... I will never buy a telltale game again).

Gog is not perfect, for example there are many games that here on gog only got english language (in retail or steam they also got other languages)... there are some games that in xp works great but now have some bug (the longest journey for example), so I need to use a VM.
Many times I made a wine port of my gog games, but I cannot import that on gog galaxy, and that's really frustrating.

But I think gog is still good most of the times. I can find language patch on the internet, I can use a VM if necessary (most of the times it's not... with the longest journey for example the only problem I got is a white exit screen from the game, so that you can exit only with keyboard Y for yes instead of mouse click button Yes), I will not use gog galaxy.
Wow... That's really sad !

Maybe you can buy the same game on steam and...

Oh wait...

More seriously : [insert random explanations on the difficulties of engineering of old pc games]
And most of time it's not the Gog's fault
Because a lot of devs simply stop supporting their games after release it here and gog never get updates from the devs because they prefer steam
