I guess the focus this year will be on Gwent, and it will still be too soon to expect anything new regarding Cyberpunk 2077.

Interesting. GoG for the year made $1.2 million profit although it seems to have lost $200,000 in the 4th quarter of the year.
Why I'm switching from Steam to GOG for PC gaming - Windows Central
Heh, this guy in the comments makes it sound like GOG will mail you physical copies of games. XD

According to this article though revenues were up 15% (totaling $33.92 million) and 2016 was the best year for GOG yet. If true that says good things for GOG as far as a continued growth.

Unfortunately, the media seems to be impressed by the wrong things sometimes.
They always quote "revenues" so the figures sound as large as possible.
It's true revenues were up 15%, but profits were way down. I would not call that "the best year yet" or "good things".

It's like a movie which grosses $50 million at the box office but lost money.

This is why I look at the real documentation, the financial summaries, rather than listen to what a videogame reporter has to say on the matter...

As I posted in another thread awhile back, here's how the profits for the GoG division have stacked up.

2016: 4,811,000 PLN
2015: 10,442,000 PLN
2014: 7,105,000 PLN
2013: 9,513,000 PLN
2012: 8,247,000 PLN

1 USD ~ 4 PLN

The good thing is they are still quite profitable. Hopefully the drop is mostly development costs for Galaxy, which means they will bounce back up when short-term development nears completion.

Most likely... you don't have an increase in revenue like that and less profit unless that money was going to some new significant expense or investment that wasn't around in 2015. Only thing publicly that could explain it that we know of is Galaxy.

It's not necessarily a bad thing though, some companies invest half or nearly all of their profits back into their company which can help increase growth quickly. GOG could simply be doing that for 2016 which would explain the higher revenue but less profits. This investment will hopefully pay off in increased releases by publishers leading to an increase in revenue for 2017/2018.

So it really depends... it very well could be a good thing.
