== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

NoxTM: I'm not liking the downloads on the left and hiding away if I don't hover the mouse over them. Unless I'm missing something, obvs. Even that stated Trine had failed, although at least at the start.
They got a copy of the part of The Witcher 3 source code used for auto-sheath sword, and modified it slightly to be able to use it to auto-hide your download status information unless you hold the mouse over it. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah, hopefully these are temporary giltches and not long term intentional bad design decisions. :)
Galaxy achievements bug in The Witcher 3

First, I should state that as a gamer I'm pretty indifferent about game achievements in general. I see them there on Steam and now on Galaxy, and I occasionally look at them but they do not affect my game play, nor are they goals that I'm concerned about when playing my games. In short, I play my games for the game's sake and my own prerogative and if I happen to unlock achievements as a result of that randomly it is just a consequence of a game deciding to implement achievement related features and not the result of me purposefully trying to achieve any of them. At the same time I recognize that many people love the idea of achievements and it increases their enjoyment of the game, gives them challenges to seek to accomplish and whatnot. I'm neutral - different strokes for different folks and all that.

Having said that, while I am neutral I am not blind to the fact they are there, and I do observe them. Additionally the purpose of using Galaxy at the moment is first and foremost to beta test it and give feedback about bugs observed, glitches, and other issues and to make feature/functionality suggestions for future improvement.

In that light - I have found some bugs in how Galaxy achievements are working while playing The Witcher 3. Whether these are bugs in the game and the way it informs Galaxy of achievements or whether it is bugs in the client or the back end service itself I wont hazard to speculate about and I'll leave that decision in the hands of GOG or CDPR developers to sort out.

Now on to the actual observed problems:

I currently have 54% of the Witcher 3 achievements flagged as completed, however if I scroll through the list of achievements that are not yet flagged as having been accomplished I can see that there are several of them which I have actually accomplished in-game but which the Galaxy achievement infrastructure is just not registering as having completed them. Inside the game itself I can go into my quest log under "Completed Quests" for example and find several quests completed to which the corresponding Galaxy achievement is showing up as having not completed.

Among this list includes:

- Armed and Dangerous: I have found and equipped all elements of the Feline gear set, including both swords, armor, pants, gauntlets, boots and crossbow. I've also upgraded all of these items to Superior quality, and I've warn the unified sets for some period of my game play before upgrading or swapping out any particular component. Again, I didn't do this to achieve the accomplishment, but because that's how I was playing the game and thought having the whole set active might give a set bonus or something. I merely observe that the game did not register the achievement for me having done it.

- Ashes to Ashes: I have completed the contract on Therazane in-game. The achievement is not recognizing this.

- Brawl Master: I have completed and won all fistfighting matches in Velen, Skellige and Novigrad including the giant grizzly bear and the rock cave troll. I am the super elite fist fighting master of the universe currently. The game has not unlocked this achievement to reflect that.

- Brawler: I have defeated Olaf the bear, champion of unarmed combat as mentioned above, the achievement does not reflect this.

- Gwent master: Ok, this isn't an achievement bug per se so much as I had the "High Stakes" quest open in my quest log waiting to build out my gwent deck and get high enough level to complete the quest. At some point the game itself just flagged this quest as failed for no reason as I had not actually attempted to play the tournament yet. I'm more disappointed to having ran around doing all the gwent missions to get good at the game and build out my deck to be able to try to win the tournament and have the game fail the mission without giving me a chance to even try it once. Ok, so this is a game bug or bad design decision and not a bug in achievements, but seeing the Gwent Master achievement made me need to rant about that. Deal with it <grin>

- Woodland Spirit: I have completed this contract but not by killing the Leshen, but rather by completing it the alternative way that honours the Skellige traditions. Perhaps you only unlock the achievement if you kill the Leshen and say "fuck you and your traditions", in which case this isn't a bug but intentional.

Those are the only achievements that remain locked in my game which I've actually completed already IMHO. To be clear though, it all depends on the definition of "completed" that is being used to determine whether or not to reward a particular achievement. I don't know what the logic there is, but in order to declare the above as being bugs (with the exception of my gwent master rant), I am using the logic that there are 3 states of a given quest in the game. State 1 is "incomplete" which includes quests that are still open in the quest log and ones that have not yet been discovered. State 2 which are quests you have completed one way or another and the game has moved them from active quests to the "Completed Quests" portion of the quest log screen no matter what you did to get the status of "complete", and quests that you failed to complete for whatever reason which resulted in them being placed under "Failed Quests" in the quest log.

Each of the quests I've highlighted above as achievement granting bugs all fall into the category #2 under this definition which is to say that the game itself has considered that I completed the quest in question and put it under the "Completed Quests" category. Since the game considers I completed these quests, I draw the logical conclusion that the corresponding Galaxy quest completion achievement should have unlocked for them as well.

The question is whether or not this is a bug in Galaxy infrastructure or the game itself but that is not for me to decide, nor do I ask other end users as it isn't for people to decide by vote or consensus either. Instead, I report it here for GOG to determine whether or not this might be a Galaxy bug and wish me to file a bug report in Mantis about it and let me know what all files you wish me to attach to reproduce and/or confirm the issue, or whether GOG would like me to instead file a bug report through the CDPR website's bug report mechanism for the game itself. I'm more than happy to do either or both, but preferably just one or the other. :)

And yes, I'm doing this more for other people's benefit than for my own in order to work out the kinks of achievement oriented bugs for people who desire that functionality to work flawlessly. It's of no real consequence to myself ultimately though. :)

Fallen_Zen: Sorry for being so quiet lately, we'll do better :).
Unfortunately no update this week but it's coming soon.
Can you please do me a favor and explain to me why Kerbal Space Program updates are not managed by Galaxy? I realize the launcher has a built in updater (are we suppose to use this?) but it sucks really really bad, and most of the time it fails to realize an update is available. Not to mention you need a separate KSB store account to use it.

Otherwise we have to use the standalone installer, which I didn't even get a flag for that 1.0.4 is available. Please make Galaxy handle the patching for all games, as this is annoying.

EDIT: What is worse is I re-installed the game via Galaxy, and it had the latest update. So this tells me Galaxy has the latest version on your servers. This doesn't make sense then as to why Galaxy can't manage the updates. :(

Well, I'd be happy if the GOG website would notify me about updates in the library again but it seems this fell through the cracks completely. Makes is unnecessary hard to keep the installers up to date. Heck if you don't wanna spam users with notifications, this is FINE. Actually an option to sort games by last update together with update date - all that would be even better than notifications.
But so far maintinaing updated installers is absolutely impossible - guesswork if you will.

mycotropic: Any clues people? I shut down, restarted and still get to exactly 99.5 "installing" where it hung an hour ago. Exact same place. Thanks.
I think I was one of the first people to log this problem - here's my mantis log.

The tech team are starting to link other cases to mine, so please feel free to add your info - the more people who raise this, the more chance there is they will actually start to look for a resolution.
Hey Andrew...
Hello!
I just tried the GOG Galaxy client. I like the idea and I think the creation of backup-setups is the most important feature.
But: I hate it creating it's directory direclty on my C:\ root!

3rd party software never ever belonged there. Thats just bad behaviour.

Making a post here since there's no other way for friends to add me. You guys should really make a method of adding friends right now that isn't half-assed (I know it's in Beta).

skeletonbow: Galaxy achievements bug in The Witcher 3

First, I should state that... (snip)
Yep can confirm this, about 11 hours in an I have gotten to the point were I should have unlocked a few achievements including "Friends with Benefits" & "Lilac and Gooseberries" which should be secret achievements and they did not unlock, as someone who enjoys going after achievements it was a bit of a let down. Now I'm wondering if I should continue on and hope that an update unlocks them or stop now and wait for this to be fixed just in case.

I would say if you care about achievements to do one of two things whichever works best for you:

- Wait until a future update of the game and/or Galaxy client or backend services have fixed the problems with achievements and are confirmed by many people to actually work reliably and instantaneously instead of the massive sync lag that happens with it right now if it ever actually works at all...

or

- Play now to just enjoy the game and leave achievements to the side for now, then do another replay of the game at a later date sometime once achievements actually work properly. If like me you are interested in the expansion packs and plan on playing a fresh game later on when they're available, you'll have the opportunity then to complete the achievements and probably some new expansion related ones.

It's possible a third option would be a hack that talks to Galaxy as if it were the game and informs the service you've accomplished certain achievements. I imagine that's something someone will figure out how to do, and I believe people have done that on Steam also. In this case you could essentially grant yourself achievements that you know you got that the achievement bugs did not register properly. I wouldn't bother with this though, could screw something up and on Steam I think there are risks to be considered a cheat by Valve if they detect it. GOG probably would not take a similar stance I doubt though.

Yea, I'm going to have to eventually play again to get the achievement for the hardest difficulty, didn't want to do that one on the first play through, but it will probably be a long time before that happens as my time is limited for when I can play. Would like to get as many as possible on the first play though. Hopefully we will get an update this week that might fix it. Lol

Yeah, I played through on the default difficulty which was fun but some of it felt a little easy after I got my mojo up. I was using oils/potions/decoctions throughout the game even though they're not mandatory in the easier difficulties apparently so I imagine when they are needed in higher difficulty I'm already adapted to the idea.

Yeah, I had hoped for a 1.07 patch that would fix a bunch of stuff but now I finished the game so it doesn't matter in the immediate for me. :) I'm poking around in the after-game a bit though but there's almost nothing left I can do except go try to talk to a druid that has a "!" indicating he wants to talk to me about a quest but then never says anything to me (game bug) and that insane level 48 archgriffin that kills me just by farting a mile away.

One thing that sucks is I went through the entire game without the dragon's dream bomb looking forward to trying it and when I eventually got it and upgraded it to max, I forgot I had it for the final battle and more or less fought the big end fights just with quen and an oiled sword with no time to throw bombs. What a battle, wont give anything away though!

JayBDD: That's the strange thing - I was able to download and install the game via GOG Galaxy just fine, but when I try to launch it from GOG Galaxy, nothing happens - no error message or anything like what you described.
avatar
BKGaming: Can you start it from the exe? If not try looking in the game folder for a _redist folder. Galaxy has issues with not installing these when it should if it's not already on your system. It might not have one though, some do... some don't.

Most likely you will need to file a report on mantis though...
Sorry for the late reply. I ran the sole .exe file from the redist folder, it installed successfully but didn't do anything to help solve my issue. I am able to run the game perfectly from the Baldur.exe file in the folder. I filed a report on Mantis; only got one reply back which wasn't that helpful but at least it was something. :/ Ah well, I'll just wait patiently for Galaxy to catch up in terms of features and functionality...

We'll definitely look at it. Could you create a ticket on Mantis with your logs if that's possible?

Bateluer: Something I've noticed with the Galaxy Client; its text sizing doesn't scale. At all. I recently bought a Lenovo Y50 laptop with a UHD display, and all the text in the Galaxy client is microscopically small. Not exactly a bug, but these high resolution panels are getting cheaper every day.
This is a known issue and on our list of things to fix. Unfortunately can't promise on the date but definitely it will be fixed.

The default path will change thanks to user feedback in the next update. It will install games to the client's directory.

devland: Can we have it so that galaxy doesn't keep creating shortcuts in the start menu?
An option for this would be great. :)
It's already in. In the settings of GOG Galaxy you'll find an option to disable that.
Of course not all games support that yet (they need to be rebuilt) so please feel free to post a ticket on Mantis with information with which game you're still experiencing this problem.
