== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Fallen_Zen: Sorry for being so quiet lately, we'll do better :).
Unfortunately no update this week but it's coming soon.
I mean, if I was them, I wouldn't be wanting to come 'round here much either. There's quite a lot of hate that gets thrown at them in this topic. "GOG IS TEH WURST NOW!" and things like that. I for one think you guys are doing a good job, thanks for all your work :)

billybob2010: Galaxy updates itself, and I installed all the games from withing Galaxy, just when they do an update, it wants me to install them all again, and I have to go into manage directory and then manually add them all again. However I was half way through and it did another update, and once again wiped them all. So it is keeping my games, but just not recognise them as being installed
Do you have your games installed under the GalaxyClient subdirectory, or elsewhere? It is a known issue that games will be blown away on upgrade of Galaxy client if the person has reconfigured it to install games into a subdirectory of the Galaxy client itself. The best thing to do is to install games to C:\GOGgames or similar and _not_ to a subdir of Galaxy itself. They will probably address this well known problem in a future update though, but it's the only reason I've ever seen someone have to reinstall their games for in the forum so far.

If your games are not under the GalaxyClient directory, where do you have Galaxy installed, and where do you have your GOG games installed?

Venom: == KNOWN ISSUES ==
- few games are not yet compatible with Galaxy and are marked accordingly on Library page
Where are they marked accordingly on the Library page? Am I missing it? I can't seem to find any indication of whether they are compatible with Galaxy or not. Ones that haven't worked so far - Darkstone, Divine Divinity, and Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2.
I am downloading from Galaxy using the More/Get Backup and Extras then installing by running the setup. Most games work fine but those do not show up in the launcher.

EDIT: I can go to More/Manage then Import the folder after installing and then it shows up in the launcher, but I would still like to know where on the Library page it is marked, and why are those not showing up without the extra step?

It only shows if they are not compatible, if you you don't see this on the right in the library page (by the drop down arrow when you hover over with your mouse) then all of your games are probably considered compatible.

Suppose to look like on attached screenshot if game isn't Galaxy compatible. Not yet available right bellow Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, sometimes you have to hover over the game icon to see it.

Thanks BKGaming and mike_cesara. I guess all my games are compatible, I don't see any indication that they are not where you mentioned. Galaxy is still in Beta, so maybe that is why some don't show up in the launcher after installing until I import the folder. I have 50 games installed, but only those few weren't listed in the launcher.

I also noticed that they were missing the goggame-xxxxxxxxx files in the directory until I imported the folder. I suspect that is why they weren't showing up, though no idea why those files were missing.

There are two import features in Galaxy, 1) for games installed with the newer updated Galaxy compatible standalone installers and 2) for games installed via the old standalone installers. The newer ones should show up automatically I believe, while the older ones you got to click on the library page for the game and then import. Scan and Import however under the "+" symbol is for the newer installers, and it is to be used when move the folder or copy them to another PC, or if for some reason they don't automatically show up... ect. More info can be found up top on that.
Personally I would like to see the current functionality fixed to a point of solid stability and consistent reliability before the introduction of any new stuff. When people have no problems with what is out there now working properly including even little things like time tracking, then it would be a good time to introduce additional features slowly, testing each, fixing it, then move on to another, etc.

Putting a bunch of stuff into a build that still has issues isn't a great idea in my opinion. Then again, releasing this to beta before it was feature complete was a terrible decision as well. Not that it matters. It's done now.

I pop in here periodically for news but I don't use Galaxy anymore and I won't until it is finished. This means, I won't bother with any of my GOG games until then either and I certainly will not make any purchases before then.

I want the experience to be complete, stable and worth using. I think that's reasonable myself.

Can we have it so that galaxy doesn't keep creating shortcuts in the start menu?
An option for this would be great. :)
Something I've noticed with the Galaxy Client; its text sizing doesn't scale. At all. I recently bought a Lenovo Y50 laptop with a UHD display, and all the text in the Galaxy client is microscopically small. Not exactly a bug, but these high resolution panels are getting cheaper every day.

Yea I'd like that too, need to check the wishlist and see if that is on there or not. If not one us should add it. I have no use for the shortcut items on the start menu with Galaxy.

avatar
skeletonbow: I've been getting a bit of a "no news is good news" vibe myself although I can understand your feelings also. :)

My gut instinct tells me they're working on some bigger additions to the client and that they want to both polish them off much more before release and hopefully fix many other broken things and fulfill some feature requests and existing bug reports this time around more en-masse. They haven't said that of course, but I am channeling their energy. :)

If I'm correct (and I hope I am), this could be quite good overall. Sometimes holding back communication temporarily can be a good thing too, so I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt on that one for the time being. :) The longer the next update takes though the greater everyone's expectations are likely to be too, both in terms of features and quality control.

Personally I hope the delay is due to both features and quality control, but we'll have to wait and see.

What features and fixes are the most important to everyone currently? The biggest things on my radar currently are:

- I really really want a GOG client overlay with screenshot and FPS counter capability, the two main things I use Steam to launch my GOG games for right now.

- Improvements to the user interface download queue view and interactions.

- Ability to pause downloads (for other people, I don't care so much myself but it is a hot item others want)

- Integrated way to search for and add new friends to the contact list directly in the client as well as the website UI without having to start "add me" threads in the forums.

- Ability to change the sorting of messages in the chat to be able to see unread messages on top, as well as the ability to avoid seeing people on the friend list who are not actually "friends" but whom are just someone you've received a message from some time before. The current client wants to tell me who all is online that I've ever spoken to even once and put them on the top of the list causing things I actually care about to be buried and impossible to find. I've never received any PMs from anyone ever since the new system went in place which I was able to find and read.

- Changelog for the Galaxy client that pops up on screen when the old client detects an update is available and/or when you upgrade to the new client - or both. Much like Steam client beta does, it's very useful.

- GOG.com user profiles with fine grained privacy controls over what parts of one's profile can be seen by "friends", "public", or individuals or groups, and an interface with which to make friend groupings/lists not unlike Facebook has. Ability to control who can see not only your wishlist with more fine grain, but also allow to share your owned-games list and to be able to make custom lists of both owned games and unowned games (kind of like Mixes but more useful). Ability to post status messages on your profile, and just be more social networkish overall for the profile side of things. Yes, some people don't want or care about that "crap", but many others do and it's not something anyone will be forced to use, but many will appreciate being able to opt into having and I'm one of them. :)

- Switch from a hierarchical navigation on game's pages in Galaxy to a flat list of meta-options. This means getting rid of "More" and it's tree based menu structure with buried options that aren't in the most intuitive place or wording and replacing it with a single flat list of things that appear directly on the game page itself alongside "Play", ie:

[Play] [Downloads] [Manuals/documentation] [DLC] [Store page] [Properties] etc... no submenus, and everything worded in the most intuitive language that will appeal to the masses.

That's just a short list of some of the more important things to me anyway, feel free to suggest your own lists! :)
Yea I agree, and I'd like to see those things too. In addition to that I'd also like to see:

- UI improvements (less standard windows look for the title bar ect)
- Better overall performance when many games are installed.
- I like to see a way to hide the the left side of the client (game list, ect) when doing something like browsing the forums or looking through the store so that your entire view it dedicated to that. Right now if your resolution is set lower you get horizontal scrollbars which I hate. Lol
