== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

What interests me: Why are the patches on Galaxy always so huge?

Galaxy just downloaded 1.2 gb for Ultimate General: Gettysburg, on the website the patch is mere 15 mb big.
All the Witcher 3 patches were double the size compared to the website.

Is there a reason for this?

My guess: It's because installers are self-extracting archives, while Galaxy uses uncompressed "pre-installed" files.

Even that can't explain why a 15mb patch bloats to 1.2gb.

I've been asking that for a while... my guess it Galaxy can't identify what files have changed vs what files are the same in some cases and therefor downloads nearly the whole game again or nearly the whole game. The auto patches are suppose to be making patching better with Galaxy but right now that not the case, especially for people with a limited net.

Nope no it does not.

kotokimura: Galaxy is exactly what I have wanted for a long time, which is a steam manager without DRM. I hope that it will be a game changer in a gaming world loaded with DRM. Thank you, GOG!

Galaxy works fine for most of the games that I have. But there are some games which show apparent issues. I don't know if these issues happen only for me or for many people. But I just want to remind GOG people of these issues so that they can fix them.

(1) installation of the games 'Unrest' and 'Outlast' doesn't work no matter how I tried. The games themselves work fine (if I start the game in a usual way without using Galaxy, they start fine). I just cannot install these games through Galaxy.
(2) The avatars of YS I & II on the left side area don't show up (Galaxy keeps on searching for the avatars for these games).
(3) Overall Galaxy is slow. When I start Galaxy, it takes a lot of times until Galaxy recognizes the installed games.
I'm also experiencing some of these, particularly 2 and 3. Ys I and II never load the background image on their info page, so the icons never show in the Installed Game List. And it takes a long time for the list of games to generate. Especially if you have a lot of games installed. I have a little over 400 in my list and it takes a little over 5 minutes to completely load the list. I wouldn't mind so much except it seems it must load in order to play The Witcher 3.

Also, I have a couple of games the will not update. Xenonauts times out while getting the file list from the server, and King's Quest 8 times out after downloading several files. Those files are in the temp folder defined in my Galaxy settings, so at least it doesn't corrupt my current working installation.

Have either of your reported this on mantis or have checked to see if it has been reported already? If not please do...

Yeah, I'm just headed there. I did check the <game>.info file for Septerra Core and it seems to be correct (I compared it to Mob Rule which does launch properly). The game just doesn't launch (septerra.exe doesn't show in task manager).

Edit: Added notes to existing Ys 1+2 issue, Xenonauts issue and Septerra Core issue. I created a new issue for my KQ8 problem and uploaded the log files. Let's see what happens. =)

Yeah this is probably like Steam in the beginning... I hope they can change that soon, it's really annoying with a slow connection.

As GOG originally explained, updates through Galaxy would be smaller due to using some kind of delta update mechanism instead of needing to re-download the entire game and reinstall or use massive patches. That apparently is their end goal anyway, but it looks like Galaxy currently does not do that and that it probably just straight out blows away either the entire game and re-downloads it, or it blows away every file that is changed and re-downloads them and that everything it downloads is completely uncompressed.

Stands to reason that it will thus consume a lot more bandwidth in the current beta state, but hopefully they implement compressed delta updating eventually using rsync or something like that. I've implemented rsync based delta updating myself and it saves a tremendous amount of bandwidth for stuff like this.
regarding achievements- once i uninstall a game will they disappear? i really dont want them too but im curious
Wait, is intended that I still have to manually download and install DLC separately? I got Omerta Gold but installing it only installed the base game. Had to go look for the dlc under More - Backup Extras and manually install it.

You can install the DLC through More->Configure however that is a completely non-intuitive place to put it. I'm not sure why they've got the More menu layed out with submenus like they have which require someone to at least once deeply navigate the entire structure to find out what all is available and what submenu it is on, but it seems unecessarily treed off. A single flat menu with all options on it would be vastly superior in my opinion. What would a highly intuitive name be for where to look for the DLC? More->DLC is where I would put it, but then I'd probably get rid of the More button entirely and just put every single option buried in the More menu hierarchy all visible on the main game screen without having to click on anything, so that every option one might want to click on is always there all the time without any menu... but that's just me. It's only a coincidence that Steam's "Detail view" more or less does this exact same thing, listing all options for a given title down a right side navigation bar.

Seems every day someone can't figure out how to download a backup, DLC, install DLC or some other thing that should be highly intuitive. Time for a rethink of this Menu button IMHO. I vote for what I said above, no button, one navbar which is flat with no submenu items. There's only going to be 8-10 items max anyway and intuitiveness beats "declutter" any day of the week in my book.

The thing is, I tried this, and the only option there was autoupdating Yes/No. The only way to get the DLC is to go to backup extra's and download the installer for it. Honestly, I was expecting the DLC to come preinstalled with my game download, else what's the point if I'm still going to have to bother installing individual parts?

And at least with this DLC I knew I was missing something, if I didn't I could've been halfway through the game before I found out I was missing DLC.

heya :)
started to download games with gog galaxy, but with some games like banished, king's quest 8 or sam & max hit the road there were some problems like failed to install or server problems. Although with manually downloaded installers all worked like a charm.
is there a list of known issues of games which have problems with downloading with galaxy client?
