== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

I should really install this and give it a try
(is there any reason why the forums open a pop-up window for new posts?)
Request:

I've got a PM message notification showing up in GOG Downloader for me that absolutely wont go away. The website does not give me a notification of a message waiting. Since the new chat system has went into place almost a month ago I have allegedly received messages from people and have yet to see a single message from anyone. All I can see in the chat system is that 234827342 people I talked to once 3 years ago are online. Not so useful. There appears to be no way to actually find a message if someone does send you one.

So, I'm requesting that one fellow beta tester (don't care who) post here first "I'm sending you a message right now" in response to this post, and then send me a private message on the chat system. The post here is to indicate to everyone else that someone has done it already so that I don't get 100 private messages. :) To others that see this message, please have a quick look through posts that have come after this one to see if anyone has already done it.

Ultimately I just want to see the message that is waiting or make the notification go away, either way I normally get messages all the time before the new chat system and I don't remember seeing any since it went in place.

Thanks in advance.

mintee: galaxy is just running too much memory for idle use. (not downloading anything) right now its taking almost 300k for galaxy helper application with another 80k for gog galaxy. thats ridiculous. I dont need it to load all my games at the start either, it takes a long time to boot up waiting for the icons to appear etc. If this is going to be the norm I am going to have to pass as I dont even like my browsers to use up memory like this
Galaxy client is a full blown web browser and that's not going to change. Modern web browsers use several hundred megabytes of memory mostly caching images and other content, also not going to change. Also, Galaxy is in beta and not yet optimized which will likely cause it to use a bit more memory.

The bottom line though is if anyone is not comfortable with Galaxy or any other modern gaming client using 200-400MB of RAM ongoing as long as the client is running, then you might as well uninstall it because it is always going to use at least that much RAM as long as it is based on web browser technology and that is likely also not going to change.

That isn't what some people want, and that's perfectly understandable with different strokes and all that. Once the Galaxy APIs are completed and stable and they document them, other coders out there will be free to create their own clients that are not based on web browser technology and which can be as limited or rich in scope as one wishes to code for to provide alternative options to people who desire something else.

But the bottom line is everyone can fully expect Galaxy client and it's spawned helper processes to consistently use a hundred or more megabytes of RAM, probably several hundred and that is extremely unlikely to change. I'll bet the farm on it.

Yep, because that's the way the forum web code is written. :) You might want to look at installing the Barefoot Essentials browser script for an inline quick post as well as numerous other features. Details in the forums, just search for it.

spyware_sam: Is there a way to completely hide a game in GOG Galaxy? As opposed to just dimming it?
Yep, go in your game library and for example - bring up the page for "Softporn Adventure" then click on the little down arrow on the right and you'll see "Hide Game" at the bottom of the menu.

bouncedk: This is a joke right? Why must I be forced to install games all over the place? I made a "Games" folder in the Galaxy folder, I should be able to install my friggin games in there if I friggin want to! Also I made a folder right next to the galaxy folder, not in it, and it still wouldn't let my install games in there ... wtf?

Also I installed Galaxy on D: drive, but lo and behold, galaxy wants to use my C: drive for all it's junk. Hello? There's a reason why I install it on the friggin D: drive.

Worst client ever, worse than steam. Where's the old downloader? I like that one so much better than this junk.
Attached is a screenshot showing you can configure Galaxy to install to places other than C:.

You're not forced to install your games all over the place, but currently you are prevented from installing them into the GalaxyClient folder because the client blows it's own directory away completely on upgrades and if your games are installed in there they will also be blown away and many people have reported that they find that undesirable, although granted their choice of words were much more colourful than that.

If you personally are finding the options in the screenshot do not allow you to change directories in a manner similar to what is depected, then file a bug report in mantis.gog.com as the purpose of those options is to indeed let you choose where to install things too, so long as it is not in Galaxy's private directory that gets wasted on updates.

Hope this helps.

(dll/win32/kernel32/client/proc.c:3727) Invalid subsystem version: 6.0
(dll/win32/kernel32/client/proc.c:3727) Invalid subsystem version: 6.0

So Galaxy tryes to run as on Windows Vista+

Erm... look what it says right there on the Galaxy client download page:
GOG Galaxy Client requires Windows 7 or newer.

If it doesn't run on ReactOS, though luck i would say. Even if you get it running on Vista or WinXP you will have to keep in mind that running the Galaxy client on those OS is not supported by GOG. Also, the mere fact that the client was/is running on XP but not on ReactOS should tell you that ReactOS obviously is not sufficiently equivalent to XP. You talking to the wrong people here. Talk to the ReactOS developers...

I am from the ReactOS development team. And I want to get more information from GOG developers. Bugs may hide not only in ReactOS but in Galaxy too. Galaxy may be just missdetects the type of OS. ReactOS shold be detected like Xp and not as Vista+.

You might want to ask GOG to open-source the client, but do not expect GOG's developers to spend their working hours on issues related to ReactOS...

For the love of God when CDPR will fix CleintCommunication.exe crash? I cant get any of achievements because of that.
Never mind. I finally got the bloody thing to download one game, so I'll give it a go. But, Jesus, what a pain in the ass this thing is so far :(

Have you tried the Mantis bugtracker? You may be able to get some more valid technical background straight from the developers there.
Would be incredibly cool if you could get it to run. Especially along with the game. Thanks so much for your work. :)
i have tried all that and my game is still at 1.05. it doesnt update.

Let me say the words you might have missed... BETA. Steam has had over 10 years, GOG has had 6 months (give or take).

EDIT:

You can also change the options under setting's so you games will install in D:, the default is C: drive.

The Galaxy settings already offer options to use other locations for Games, temporary files and extras. Oh well...
