Ubisoft turns 30 years and they are giving away a free (good?) old (or new!) game every month, for seven months straight!!

NOTE already, it requires Uplay! While some of the older .exe may run without it after a first run, who knows?

So its not free at all is it, you have to be in this club, presumably you have to install their client, subscribe to their systems etc. Hence it is not free, but a nice big con to snare people into their systems. Me if I didn't already own it here I would wait for a discount and get it here.

I already have the uplay client on my puter due to the Far Cry games that require it. If I wanna play their games I have to eat their crow.

I have GOG Galaxy, Steam, Origin, Uplay and even the defunct Desura client. I must look so stupid to all of you snarky people... But to be honest, I've never had any problem at all with any of them. Well, I have, like regionally unavailable games (Steam) or never discounted games (Origin), but except that, on each client, when I hit "play", I can play, which is all I'm asking for.

But it will be with joy that I will watch out for Ubi's free games. Too bad I already have PoP.

Not at all, not to me at least. Just because I personally don't want to deal with UPlay doesn't mean I look down on anyone who does. Your choice does not affect me in any way, so who am I to judge?

That's nice of them.

Nothing is free and research suggest we become irrational when read or hear the word, might be prudent if it wasn't allowed to use in offers or ads.

Not really interested in the current freebie, but as I already have a uPlay account from a while back I might keep an eye on this and see if anything interesting comes up...

I've got all of those same clients installed as well. I hate Origin and Uplay with passion, and I hate EA and Ubisoft equally as well, however if I'm getting free games from them or from someone else on their services then I'll take them because... FREE GAMES! So long as it is a simple process to get and redeem the game that is. Origin's free games are usually on their "On the House" page and are a one-click no-hassle freebie. Uplay's were a bit more work but not much just to set up the account if it isn't already. I don't mind doing simple things like that personally. I've had some problems with Origin/Uplay being not the most stable/reliable apps and think they're fairly watered down but the basic features work good enough. Even though I dislike them, I don't mind using them for easy to get free games.

The Desura client was very quirky I found, but now it is extremely super duper quirky. :)

In terms of features, functionality, stability and all around code quality though, the Steam client IMHO is by far the best piece of software of the bunch. That is speaking in terms of features, not in terms of arguing about the pros and cons of DRM and whatnot that people invariably bring up. I hope to see all of the clients mature both in features and code quality up to the standard of the Steam beta client - which is more stable than most companies non-beta stable products in my experience.

So you don't look stupid to me, in fact I think there are more people happily using all of those clients with very little complaints than any people who refuse to use them or complain about them. I say that and I'm one who both uses them and also complains about them. :) The noise we hear about people hating on them are from a small group of extremely highly vocal people opposed to them for various ideological or philosophical reasons, many of which are valid. I myself think I fit somewhere balanced in the middle, acknowledging the real problems they have backed by solid facts, but also refuting problems people sometimes claim that are simply untrue or at best misleading. But I also bitch about them when it feels appropriate. :)

Having said that, while it is an individual thing with no right or wrong answer, I personally greatly favour using a gaming client to manage my game libraries for purchase, download, install, update, etc. because it's just so terribly convenient. Oh, and because it is 2016 too. I don't think they're for everyone, nor that everyone should use them though either because that wouldn't really be fair to judge, because I don't own a mobile phone or tablet and have no plans to in the future either, so who would I be to judge? :o)

Apparently someone from Ubi talked to someone from EA and found out gullible suckers who don't already have the client will sign up to get a free game that's already a loss leader. So they give out these old games almost no one buys anymore and get access to peoples' data. Brilliant.I already had Origin and UPlay before so I was actually suckered in by the paid for games I have (Far Cry, Watch_Dogs, Dragon Age etc)

7 months, 7 free gmaes. Now to see will be there a winner that will make me install uPlay xD
