Consortium, I guess? :D

I bought it almost two years ago, and in the meantime it's been become super cheap on several occasions and was given away for free twice already, while I still haven't managed to get into it. I think I tried at least three times and always quit in the beginning before the game had truly started. Not quite sure why, but the long loading times, loads of (optional) background text on the computer in the starting room (that make me think I might miss something on not reading them, while at the same time I really don't want to) and the abstract, impersonal approach (no actual names for characters etc.) might have something to do with it. Probably not very good reasons to dismiss a game, so I keep on trying again, but it really doesn't seem that much fun. Is it?
Fable 1 on Original Xbox has to be my top pick of all time.

Was hoping it would be a modern Zelda with more depth and open-ended design only to find the game squanders any potential it might have had. Paid the full $50 at launch too. Kinda my fault for not heeding the warning from previews talking about Molyneux "overpromising" before. Didn't really know who he was before that game in my defense. Been pissed at that guy since. Then I discover he used to be involved in making good games which are available here on gog. Man, what happened?

misteryo: I own many games that I don't care for, but I either got them ridiculously cheap or in a giveaway that I don't regret them at all
Same here, although I wish I hadn't bought Baldur's Gate here. I didn't care for it when it came out but bought it here (and BG2) and I still didn't care for them. Oh well, I wanted to give it another try.
Namco Bandai screw up big time, with those horrible, broken, sh*tty pc ports, again, as of late... They even had the audacity to ask for preorder...
I regret purchasing Inquisitor.

FTL

Goddamn supernovas.

Yeah, that kind of sucks.
Space Empires 4 Deluxe.

Horrible, overcomplicated gameplay together with a terrible UI.

I bought it during the Winter Sale.

I regret that now for this reason alone. Really man? The balls to talk shit about piracy to someone who paid and did the right thing.

Dear developers, here's how it goes....

If I bought the game legit then fuck you

and if I didn't buy it then I don't care.

So don't pull the FBI warning shit that gives consumers more reasons to throw up fingers and go pirate it instead.

Regret buying The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing pt 1 and 2, and sadly because of number of bugs, crashes and so on i regret buying Heroes of Might and Magic IV. Spellforce series and Princeof Persia Warrior within were disappointing a bit too. None of other 90 games.
Oh man, mine was Gothic 3 when it first came out back in 2006. I was so psyched for that game because I had played both Gothic 1 and Gothic 2, loved the characters, story, how you progressed through the game...oh man, it was all so good. Up until then, I was mostly familiar with JRPGs, but Gothic was the first WRPG series that showed me a different approach to RPGs.

After finally getting my hands on it, I was so disappointed. Several of the characters who had been in previous games all had different voice actors, the game was a buggy mess, combat was frustrating (arg! Stunlock!), and the save/load times were atrocious! I actually used a stopwatch to time it; 30s to save a game and 2m 15s to load! I relied so heavily on quick saves and quickloads because I would frequently get in over my head while exploring areas where monsters were a little too tough (and then again...stunlock).

After about a month of trying so hard to love this poor conclusion to the series, I got wind of a free indie game from Japan that had been developed by three people, and was a homage to old MSX games. The free game had just gotten a translation patch and several people were raving about it online. One night after quitting Gothic 3 in frustration, I downloaded the game with the intention to just dabble a little. I found myself absorbed in the game and was compelled to finish it. I ended up play that game for the next two months.

That game was La-Mulana. Funny how a free game stylized to look like an MSX game was so easily able to pull me away from a 100hr fantasy epic that was the third game in my favorite series.

To this day, I wonder about Gothic 3. I still have the physical versions, and I hear the community has given a lot of love to the game (even getting rid of the stunlock), making it vastly more playable than it's original release. I just can't bring myself to try it again. Enough time has passed, but when I think about that first impression, it's just so hard to shake the negative experience in my mind.

What do you all think? Has anyone played Gothic 3 and is able to compare the before and after? Is it worth a second try?

Same here. Was very disappointed in Gothic 3. One of my few regretted gog purchases.
