omega64: Oh come on, Corridor 7 was way worse. :P

Just look at the wonderfull games they made:

Corridor 7 wasn't too bad. Operation Body Count, on the other hand, was simply terrible.

xieliming: feel shafted by the need to purchase DLC to expand the limited customization options
Huh? There's a single piece of cosmetic DLC, which adds one hair style and like 3 armor skins and armor color customization. Game without the DLC has vast majority of that stuff already - what the DLC adds is pretty much negligible. Not to mention that it has absolutely no effect on gameplay whatsoever.

shoveling: There is no real balance or character building. Also bugs... Probably less bugs now.

If you are someone who likes character building and making different builds, the game will probably annoy you.

If you do not care about the mechanics at all, you will probably enjoy it.
What are you talking about? I play many RPGs and W2 has a lot more depth and meaning in character building than most. The thing is, you have to actually build them from your own brain, the game doesn't hand-hold for you at all, and so if you are focussed on a "best/better" build rather than "what sort of character do I want this to be" build, then you are probably not having fun. I haven't even played in the last 2 patches and even with that the balancing is fine, people just like to whine when they make a less-than-uber character and have difficulty in a game where they are used to just obliterating everything without effort (to them that is fun...different games for different types.)

NoNewTaleToTell: The Witcher/The Witcher 2. "Ooh look, mommy and daddy have stepped away for a second, let's curse and talk about naughty things as much as possible until they return! Aren't I so mature?" -The Witcher/The Witcher 2.
Have you played these? I have yet to play them, but I own them and have been considering pre-ordering Witcher 3 without having played 1+2 (generally a bad idea, I know, but they are lauded RPGs and I don't hear much negative about them.) I have played at The Witcher a little, I only finished the starting town though and will need to start over whenever I go back because I don't remember anything about making potioins or the varying combat techniques. It didn't grip me, but it wasn't bad and I understood a lot of the beginning to be teaching me how to play, but I never really did get into it., and I'd like to hear more from naysayers about it to get a better perspective on if I think I will like them or not.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Paid full price for the GOTY edition and while the game sounded great on paper, it completely failed to catch my interest once I got my hands on it. I probably installed it some 3 times but never got far.
I'll add Morrowind and Oblivion to this list as well. Bought GOTY edition of Morrowind back in the day, spent so many hours playing it and was utterly bored the whole time, but I kept looking for it to get good, and kept looking, and kept looking. It was certainly novel to run around an entire world from region to region and see all the geography, but really stupid and boring gameplay and story IMO. But even after that, for some reason I bought the collector's edition pre-order of Oblivion and was excited for it (makes me sick to have known how much money I've thrown away on crap like this.) It was WORSE than Morrowind, but I kept playing because I figured there had to be something that I was missing and I just hadn't figured it out yet. You know what I discovered I was "missing"? A taste for bad games.
I kinda regret buying Antichamber. It was heavily discounted on humblestore and it was one of the fucking best gaming experiences i had in years. It felt just wrong having spent so little money on it. Yeah, i could and should have simply bought it again.

Witcher 1 gets better later on.
You can skip to witcher 2 with no ill effect.
Just remembered another game i regret buying; Dragon Age: Origins. While it is a great game and loved playing it (all 8-ish playthroughs!) i missed out on most of the DLC's (specifically the Witch Hunt and Warden's Keep). :(

Wish i had waited and bought the complete edition.

I played about an hour, hour and a half of The Witcher and that was enough for me and I played just through the tutorial of The Witcher 2 before putting it back on my virtual shelf (due mostly to lack of interest and performance problems). I found the first one to be clunky in every conceivable manner, didn't find the story or the characters engaging or even interesting (cliche after cliche is what I saw) and I thought the"choose the dialogue option meant to be friendly and get a sex card in return" mechanic was just stupid.

The second one barely runs on my laptop even on the lowest settings so I won't give criticism except to say that the fact that it starts off cursing does not inspire confidence that it is more mature than the first. To its credit, The Witcher 2 feels A WHOLE LOT less clunky than the first, I might go so far as to say that it feels kind of fluid. If I ever give the series another chance (which I probably will sometime in the future, to be fair) I'll probably just skip the first one and just play The Witcher 2.

R8V9F5A2: I liked Colonial Marines, after the huge patch and after a significant price-drop.
I even bought the DLC that came afterwards, which is actually better than the core game.

Considering how terrible the initial release was, it remains a splendid example of unethical business practice in the gaming industry, a '101' in how to mislead your consumers and not take any responsibility.

omega64: I tried it, never got past the part where you're in a powerloader fighting a boss.
Tried about 10 times and just gave up.
That fight was disappointingly short for me, but I was probably just lucky with the hits.
I mean, you get your hands on one of the coolest pieces from the movies and you don't get to do very much with it.

No.

You can cover all skills easily with your party of 4 rangers. Not that you need all of them, and some are pretty meh.

Attribute balance is terrible. Combat initiative is the only important thing. A few attributes are pure dump stats. Skills are not tied to attributes. There are no perks or traits.

You will end up with almost the same attributes by end game, unless you pick a dump stat.

There are no real different builds... they all play the same... no variety or reason to waste time making a character.

Armor is useless, because it makes you take more damage late game.

This game has barely more character options than a game without any.

Crewdroog: Oh man, codes! I remember playing Bubble Bobble (one of my all-time favorite games- I can still remember the music) and writing all the codes for all one billion levels. Isn't it silly what we get angry over as kids? At least your brother liked the game.

This made me laugh SO hard. Thank you for sharing it! :)
Funny thing, after I posted, I did load up the old NES and played Bubble Bobble. It was pretty bad. lol. ah nostalgia. I guess that's what 8 y/o me thought was fun. I also enjoyed He-Man, so I guess I had poor taste and was easily amused. come to think of it, not much has changed....
skyrim, Elder Scrolls Online. Bought both based on hype and excitement with family members. Were nice to look at and at first fun to play but then for mulitude of reasons lost interest, family members got bored first and quit so perhaps that was it. At least with GoG you can buy a game, find out that its not your cup o tea and it doesnt cost you upwards a hundred bucks for the lesson (or more if you buy into subscription games)

all the rpg games I recently bought.. .turns out that I am sick of the genre
