The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition

Already finished original game few months ago. Bought expansions later which was stupid move.
Even when I focus on contracts, schools gear collection and main story (no gwent, I'm not into gambling stuff) it's still really time consuming title. Had to stop and finish some business in real life then try to resume and finish some main story stuff.

I finished TW1 thrice, TW2 twice and was doing 2nd playthrough with add-ons in TW3 but had to stop.

I'll probably get lynched for this one but....Titan Quest Anniversary Edition was the one I ended up stopping. I don't think there was any one thing particularly wrong with it, I just got bored. I know it is intended to be a Diablo hack & slash type game and a loot fest, and it fully represents that. The grind just caught up with me and the "environment" just never pulled me in or compelled me to continue. As I said, it just got....BORING. Way to many games in my "queue" to keep playing one that bores me.

I quit it back in post #82 for somewhat similar reasons. Made it through the grind just to reach the end boss and discovered that I'd need 5+ hours of additional grinding of xp and/or gear.

Drealmer also quit fairly early on from boredom, but he doesn't tend to post in this thread.
<span class="bold">Geneforge 1</span> (GOG)

This game is an old school RPG.

This game has so much potential. The setting is very unique, and the areas are interesting to explore. The combat is turn-based. There are a lot of quests which can choose to complete or not. There are different factions with whom you can take sides, or not, as you choose.

However, there was one HUGE annoyance which pretty much ruined my enjoyment of the game: there is no “rest” mechanic. You use up points by casting spells and creating creatures but these points can for the most part only be replenished in town, which involves walking all the back to town, then walking all the way back to where you were. This is not difficult, it’s just time-consuming and mind-numbing… it really started to grate on me which is why I quit.

I think I’ll likely try to return to this game at some point in the future, but I just can’t bring myself to do so right now.
Killing Floor 2 (PS4)

I thought I'd give the single player mode a try. It's crap. Just a collection of hoard mode maps, and even in that regard there is way better- like Zombie mode in Call of Duty for example. If I want to play an MP shooter, there's plenty I'd play before this one.

Well I had intended on continuing, but I forgot to backup my, I guess around 1.5 week old game's save when I formatted my laptop and reinstalled windows earlier today. That lapse in memory? Methinks it was a blessing in disguise :P

Dragons Dogma
Bought it this year played it a bit to just past the intro climbing on large enemies only and throwing people off cliffs as the only real stand outs got boring quickly and the game didn't even look that good, nor do I like grinders.
I prefer games where a sword strike removes a part and generally is fatal.
I recently put the first System Shock on hold for some time. I heard it inspired a lot of things in Bioshock and I could kind of see it from the very first minutes, but the controls are absolutely awful! And I really like old games, but those controls kind of made me lose my interest in the game.
<span class="bold">Theme Hospital</span> (GOG)

Bullfrog made some really good games in the 90’s, and this is one of them. It’s got nice/humorous graphics and gameplay. The game is quite easy to learn and the UI is pretty intuitive. It’s very addictive too, hard to stop playing.

However, I found that even on “Easy” difficulty that there is a bit too much micromanagement, especially in room design and machine repair. I didn’t enjoy placing the furniture individually in each room, I’d rather just be able to buy a pre-furnished room and place it down. And I never could quite figure out how machine repair is supposed to work, even with a large number of repairmen (with their work priority set to repair being the highest) I would still get warnings about machinery breaking down and some machinery would even explode. Sure, I can select each individual machine and page a repairman to go fix it, but that’s the kind of micromanagement I don’t enjoy. Still, neither of these interfere too much with my enjoyment of the game.

Ultimately the game just gets repetitive though, after completing the first half of the game or so each new level just feels like it’s getting longer and harder [that’s what she said!] without adding anything significant or new, and by this point I feel that I’ve got everything I want out of this game and I don’t really want to play for many more hours just to do another level which is pretty much like the last one.

It’s still a fun game, and I enjoyed my time playing it (at least the first half of the game or so), so I’d still recommend it.
Homeworld.

I can't even get passed mission 3, defending the silos, no matter what strategy I use. I have the maximum number of ships the previous mission allowed me to build, but they just don't do enough damage fast enough.

I would have to restart the whole game again and follow 'the one' correct upgrade path, ... but I can't be bothered with that kind of crap anymore.

From what I've read recently, this is also how the rest of the game is; forgot to build enought fighters ? go back X number of missions and start all over again, until you stumble upon the one correct path through trial and error.

It's a real shame we can't trade games here on GOG, I'd be happy to trade off 50% of my library, Homeworld included.

Edit: I un-quit myself. I found a solution to that mission, in that the game adjusts the fleet size to your own fleet size. So if you have a smaller fleet you will get fewer AI ships to fight. With a smaller enemy fleet I was able to beat the mission and continue on with the game.

Pre-warning: I am seriously thinking of quitting Fallout Tactics (with the Redux 1.3 mod). And i am only few missions away from the ending (now in the Buena Vista mission, and four more missions to go after that, out of total 22 + training missions).

Yeah I am playing the game in the hardest difficulty so I shouldn't complain... but I feel the difficulty level is still unfair and makes savescumming a necessity to survive. Now, I am unsure if this is partly due to the mod and if the vanilla game is much easier even in the highest diffifculty, but I didn't want to play without the mod as it apparently fixes lots of issues in the game.

Ok, so I am already close to the end, all party members are in high levels 24 or so and finely-tuned combat skills (all are great at long range sniping and energy weapons, and two are great with big weapons too, etc.), two main soldiers have the best armor in the game (Advanced Power Armor) while the rest have "regular" Power Armor...

...yet I am still constantly struggling against any supermutants and most robots, Very often they can still kill my party members with one hit, e.g. if a super mutant fires a rocket at my party, they sometimes do over 300 points of damage (and the HP of my characters is well under 200), even when wearing the best armor. Also their accuracy in unparallel, they can outsnipe even my best sniper (who has perception 10, Sharpshooter perk etc. etc.) with energy weapons, which should have much lower range than sniper weapons, and Supermutants can also fire rocket launchers from insane ranges. It is also odd that when I hit enemies with rockets, I do much less damage, usually maybe couple dozen points, with a critical hit something like 170 points at best. Never over 300 points like super mutants or hover bots do.

Really, many times the only way to survive is in combat to quicksave a game, snipe at an enemy eyes... and retry that as many times until you finally get lucky and the enemy loses its consciousness (after which it won't fire back at you, as long as it is unconscious). Savescumming at its worst, saving and reloading after every move, but what options do I have?

In the Buena Vista mission, I am now trying to enter a big factory. As soon as I step in, six or more deadly robots appear around the party. I try some tricks like sending only one soldier in sneak mode and then send it back right away (so that I am not caught in crossfire between the robots), but as soon as I start fighting the robots, they can certainly kill any of my party members with a few evergy weapon hits, even with advanced power armor. There doesn't seem to be any alternative entrances to the factory, and trying to get past the robots sneaking doesn't work either, all party members will be detected quite soon, even those with very high sneak skill.

I also played Fallout 1-2 in the hardest difficulty and don't remember similar big issues with them. I am regarding Fallout Tactics as a kinda tactical RPG where I get to develop and equip my characters, and my expectation for games like these is that near the end I am getting so powerful that I can handle even the hardest enemies (non-bosses) quite nicely. This doesn't seem to be happening with Fallout Tactics, I am constantly struggling with robots and supermutants, even with the best armor and weapons the game has to offer. Even in random encounters, I pretty much have to run away from supermutants. In Fallout 2, I recall that while at first Enclave soldiers could easily destroy my whole team, later in the game I was so powerful I could handle Enclave soldiers quite nicely, with advanced weapons and armor.

What's the point of playing this game anymore? I'd like to give some feedback to the mod author, is this how this game is supposed to be, and is it different from the vanilla game?

(I played the Humble Bundle version)

This game is a point-and-click mystery adventure game.

I found the gameplay too linear and too easy, with too much focus on the story and conversations and not enough focus on exploring and experimenting.

It's really cool and I'll probably try again someday, but after Cataclysm : DDA, I find the game a bit lacking in depth. I want more crafting recipes and items.
Hope you try it again eventually is a great great game! There are mods for it but I haven't tried them myself so can't deliver an argumented opinion about that matter.

Just a friendly reminder: If you're having trouble with save games you can always get the NEOScavenger Save Manager

But at the end of it all I get you, it's hard to compare any game of the genre to C:DDA. Only one I know is UnReal World.
Transistor. Took me 20 minutes, the game is a stinking turd in shiny foil wrapping. 4.5 stars? GFY.
