agentcarr16: Hello there! Welcome to Mafia!

Bookwyrm627: Welcome!
In the past, I was a bit intimidated by Mafia threads mainly due to the fact that it has been going for some time and I felt I might not be able to fit in. A recent thread by drealmer7 encouraged me to join this one. Thank you for the welcome!

flubbucket: This sounds like a thing.

/in

Bookwyrm627: I'm currently interpreting this as "Not in" (because of the slash). Please correct me if I'm wrong.
???

The way it's done on Mafiascum is "/in."

So sorry for being confusing.

If you'd rather not include me I understand, but I would be interested in playing.

We need a town arsonist, if we don't have one the game just would not be that same......

While not an expert, I suspect the origin is from MUDs and MMOs where the '/' was used to designate some commands.

So /in I would read as 'command=in' as opposed to =/=in as 'not equal to in'
As always, I'm in (every game needs a power lurker).

Yeah, so called "slash commands". Yes, /in is shorthand for "Oh glorious Moderator, your awesomeness bestills my heart. Please, would you deign to allow me to partake in your planned gaming extravaganza?" More or less. ;)

The correct response from the Moderator, in this case, is probably: "/gameinvite flubbucket game34" "/setrank flubbucket player" (or somesuch)

This assumes the Moderator has already "/gamecreate Game34", obviously.

I apologize in advance to the player that draws the "Giant Squid" role.
Present and accounted for and ready to find those scummies and KILL KILL KILL them.

Poll question #1: 7 days.

Poll question #2: standard play. dead-ites can not influence our realm. what can I say? sometimes I'm okay with a no-lynch.

Dammit, that was my joke!

Err, I mean, "slip."

Unless your RP says "KILL KILL KILL," obvs.

Giant Squid? What is the theme of the game? Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea?
Normally Mafia games end in binary Win/Lose for the players. This particular game will feature a leader board at the end. Each player will have objectives to complete in order to score points, and point totals will be presented at the end.
Am I the only one that reads this as "forum mafia game with achievements"?

I'm not sure I understand how this unusual works. What exactly is the point of the leader board? Will there be no Win/Lose condition? If there will be, how will the "objectives/scoring points" side impact the main quest of he game?

Regarding the poll:

1) Deadline length - I'm with JMich on this (post #11), though I don't know why he prefers longer Days, especially at the beginning - number of players + location of players (time-zones) should be taken into account. As the game progresses and players die, the deadlines could adjust.

2) Lack of consensus at Deadline - I have to say no interferences from the dead/observer thread, as it could mess with the outcome/balance of the game.

And I'd like to hear a little more about the theme/setup of the game.

HypersomniacLive: And I'd like to hear a little more about the theme/setup of the game.
I would also like to hear about this. If you don't want to reveal too much about the set-up in advance, could you at least give some sort of indication about how different this game might be to a run of the mill type game.

For instance:

Call a normal game (25% Mafia ,all goons in a single team, and 75% Town, all vanilla or only a single Cop) a 1 and a Role-Madness game with multiple scum factions and/or other more complex mechanics a 10. Where on that 10 point scale would this game fit in, ballpark?

edit: Even that might be giving away too much if you answer. Bleh. Mainly, I just would rather a simple game with as few outside/unknown factors thrown in as possible for my next game (as least currently). I feel like I have been blindsided a lot in recent games (not necessarily a bad thing, but a thing, nonetheless), and I want a game to regain my bearings in terms of my meta. Hence, my slowness to sign up for this game.
