Catventurer: Is our theme The Office?
avatar
PookaMustard: Forgot to answer that. No (because I haven't watched The Office). It does sound an interesting show, but then again I thought of watching Supernatural a while back and it just didn't happen.

I'll create a wholly original setting but I'm open to taking some inspirations from The Office.

Oh, I also mentioned an idea in the admin thread with the cop academy idea, where the nightkilled person has to be ejected from the class kicking and screaming, and... I like that idea so much, I want to port it into this setting. It's so fun writing flavor when you have to think up of ways to get rid of removed players other than "lol they're dead".
To be perfectly honest, I've only seen a few episodes of The Office here and there. It's a mockumentary sitcom about the work life of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company (not real) and makes fun of the type of stuff that goes on in workplace offices such as sensitivity training that ends up offending almost everyone to the extent that no tv station or streaming service will air that episode anymore. I wouldn't take too much inspiration from that show.

Also writing elaborate death scenes can be fun too!

Well, yeah, fair. So many ways to perish, violently, gruesomely, quietly, or with a sacrifice for the greater good, or maybe you're just going out with a bang. True.

But the end result is almost always the same: the player is dead, lifeless, will never do anything ever again. And this is where a non-lethal removal gets to be fun. The player isn't dead, but they can't participate in the game anymore, so how do you go about that? Do they show up from time to time in the game flavor? Maybe they're a Towny and get to scream "I TOLD YOU SO!" when the Mafia wins? Maybe the Mafia are ultimately well-intentioned people and just release the people they "nighkilled" from their bindings.

Do you remove players by knocking them out? Expelling them? Maybe they just wear a dunce hat and stay put in the class.

Lots of things to think about that adds new dynamics to the flavor!

There's also Class 4 Lasers, dragons, evil sewer clowns, some guy getting stabby stabby while you take a shower, restaurants on murder day, singing plants, and gunfights with too many bullets just to name a few options.

Alternately you kill people off, then use the back from the dead trope if town wins!

We're still accepting resumés in this company. Apply today to join our work groups.

(And by "company" I mean "very fun forum game", and by "work groups" I mean "player factions that pretend to want each other dead during the game but are all friendly in reality". )
player factions that pretend to want each other dead during the game

Except that I'm mostly dangerous to myself. Case in point, I got scalded with hot water yesterday that would have taken me out for the rest of the day if the game had actually started. Saying that, I'd like to thank the people that have not signed up yet for not signing up yet and delaying the game's start. Since my obligatory one accident per game has occurred, it is safe for everyone who hasn't signed up yet to sign up.

Some atmospheric music :)

I do recommend the song, very good actually ;-)
Aww, to hell with it.

Sign me up.

I'll be in no mental state whenever this game starts, but should I get tossed out on Day_1 at least it will serve as sort of a buffer for the rest of the playerbase to play one day longer.

Huh, that is frighteningly accurate. O_o

It is because the game I sat out because I was busy with stuff, no accident occurred.

My foot is still really red from the burn and has a large purple spot from where the pot must of hit it. On the plus side, I'm almost spending all my time at home with my foot elevated and have been working on my backlog.

Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog vibes. Nice friendly chit-chat, clock in, brutally murder each other, clock out, nice friendly chit-chat again.

@Catventurer sorry about what happened! Hopefully it at least healed a bit in the meantime. Oh, and I grabbed the first two Hitchhiker books too.

Also I added Atlo to the list.

Foot just looks yucky but no longer hurts.

Oh and Sunday was an extra fun day as the oven broke, then one of the toilets was leaking this morning. At this point, I'm running out of things to go wrong. People can hurry up and sign up now.

Catventurer: I haven't seen Office Space, but I feel like I'm going to be the obligatory low work ethic employee in this game. My first post is literally going to be on the level of "Guys, here's a list of all my upcoming FMLA days."
So you're the main character from Office Space, I see :)
(the guy literally slacks off in every conceivable way and they keep promoting and praising him :D)

Oddly enough, I have been watching Supernatural on/off for the last few months.
(the quality dips over time[as they suffer from 'x-files-itis' by going from monster of the week to heavier/repeatitive lore over time] but the first 'arc'[ending with season 5] is decent enough. i'm now on season 7, with a new foe and some new elements....imo it isn't always as good as the first arc, but pretty good nonetheless)

Since I haven't seen Office Space, I'm only going to have to say that you only know that to be true because you're also a member of Team No Work. Every time I use an FMLA day to take my cat to the vet, you're going to be the first one in my corner office bringing flowers for my cat, asking how my cat is, and spending the next five hours debating cat memes with me. If anyone asks, we're having an important meeting here.

Team No Work could have come up with a better name than that, but that would be work.

I guess I found my peers already.
I never saw Office Space either, but my professional role model is Dilbert's friend Wally. He can turn avoiding work into an art form ;-)
