I can see why you can't steal a claim after a lynch: the player is effectively already dead (just waiting on mod to close the day, which may not be immediate because of the forum format). You probably could have still copied Hijack's claim (he was still alive) for all the good it would have done you.

Your last exchange with Trent was so "Wait, WTF?" But having read the obs thread, you probably already see that. I had no idea what was going to happen, and it never even crossed my mind that such a role might have existed.

Neutral survivors have an interesting position. The longer the game goes, the more they should align with mafia.

As I read the scum thread, I saw one thing that would have changed the game around entirely. If BlueMooner had actually copy/pasted his PM on N0 like the others did, I think scum would have skated right through Yog's first post claim because the unrestricting thing likely would have come out N0 instead of most of the way through N1. Lift and Trent would have been on the chopping block for being slow to catch on, and who knows how things would go from there. Also, BlueMooner not being able to keep up with the thread was a second serious blow for scum.

The more I read it, the more impressed I've become with RW and this setup; there are a LOT of subtleties. I'm also impressed with his restraint in trying to point out that scum have a piece of information that hasn't been shared amongst them without actually doing the sharing. I'm not sure my touch would have been as soft (or whether it would have occurred at all).

Example of game subtlety: As thieves start stacking up money, Trent could get larger piles of cash in one night if he pays the least bit of attention. Fewer people would have cash (so he might miss money one night), but that sort of information is likely to come out as it happens, which would narrow his potential targets. For example, if CSPVG had survived and stolen cash for two nights, and Trent steals from CSPVG on N3, Trent meets his win condition if he had successfully stolen from just 1 other player on either of the first two nights (10k personally, 10k from Trent's theft, 10K from CSPVG and 20k from CSPVG's thefts).

Example: Scum had several counters for town power roles (though they didn't realize it until too late), and yet if town didn't do anything at all with the roles, then the game basically becomes vanilla town versus vanilla scum.

Actually, I was all for you pulling that off, but it wasn't going to be absolute. And if you read on the mafia wiki, both Lynchproof and Bulletproof are usually one-shot and Governor X-shot. Not sure it would give you enough for the win though.

It's sad for BlueMooner's circumstances, but that put scum in a bad position as he was the only one of the scum who pretended to get it enough not to stick out. He did show up for night 2 and the whole restriction for Trent came from him. I still think scum had a chance if you had a determined 4th. Adalia could have stolen Dedo's role, and the two of them could have killed the two Gurus in one shot night 3. Then they would have to hope BlueMooner blends in enough and gets lucky enough with his kills (JMIch the Watcher was activated day 3) to make the final 3. But BlueMooner was all prepared to give up after Day 2 anyway. So no point dragging it out after he failed to post for 4 active days.

Its a bit sad for Cristigale that the game wasn't closer, as her only real chance was to wait til the numbers were a bit lower to push for the no-lynch.

Uhm, that wasn't me or at least I didn't do it on my own. I was going to do it and the spelling error was the foundation of my play if RW accepted books' action but I never got the chance to even point my target. I woke up to a concluded game :) That's why I asked whether Sage's shortcoming was a delayed kill and she marked books for death earlier and it just resolved.

And the number of power roles was sort of a MacGuffin, as it was unlikely town could keep more than 2 or 3 up and running at any point in time. Town needed everyone to have a significant role so there was enough choice for the Gurus (who could still slip up and pick a neutral or scum.

I actually have a new setup based on this model in the works but everyone starts off on knowing the basic setup. More of a cold war spy theme where town are "Russian" sleeper agent who can be activated by "Spymasters" and scum are arguably the good guys trying to prevent the Russians from winning. Still leaves room for neutral twists and interesting roles of course, but it would be interesting to see how the restrictor vs unrestrictor would play out if everyone has full knowledge about it...

It was simply because I thought you were the most scummy. Nothing more.

You only have $10,000 which happened to be just enough to join this game show where other contestants are each bringing $10,000 to the table...

Pickpocket – Each night, you may go through another player's belongings and gain a not-so-subtle hint as to their role. You may optionally, take any money or these items at your discretion, in which case they will be aware they were visited. Otherwise, the target will remain unaware. [Flavor/Role Cop with an added twist]

You win one of two ways. First, by collecting a total of $60,000 which will allow you to “walk off” the show by paying in your $10,000 (while retaining enough to make the downpayment). Second, by surviving the game show and having $50,000 at the end.

The sketches are truly horrifying, in fact, you feel that if you were not already unable to act as a cop, you might have been scared enough by this to, well, not act as a cop...

Maybe its the crowbar in his hand, or maybe the fact he swings it at you and knocks you out. Or maybe how you wake up spinning in a clothes dryer with Adalia staring at you with a wicked grin. Your keen cop senses say that Adalia is "Scum". Of course this does you little good as you are now dead.

You have hit hard times lately hence why you are taking the chance to appear on this show this year. Last year over half the contestants actually died as opposed to the usual fake death of being voted off the island. No idea how the show let that serial killer through the vetting process and that's not even mentioning the gang members...

Dedoporno – Angus (Town Confused Jack of All Trades)

You were once quite capable of doing just about anything and something different every day. But as you've grown older, your wide variety of jobs in the past are just confusing you. Now, you have a hard time making a living and are taking your chances on a game show.

Jack of All Trades – You may take one action at night. One time each, Cop, Doctor, Vigilante, and Role block)

Confused – You lack the clarity of mind to properly perform any action. While you “could” attempt to use your abilities, they will fail and be used up.

As the day progresses, you've been talking to all the various contestants (there is assumed communication that exceeds the game forum). For whatever reason, you feel different. Somehow with the various conversations you've had, you feel someone subtlely has, well, made you more confident.
In short, you no longer feel confused, you are now (Town Jack of All Trades). If you were meta-gaming, you'd think someone used a day action on you...

You watch over Yogsloth, staying in a room near enough by so you might react to trouble...trouble doesn't come as you drift off to sleep...

You have a bet with a rich and influential friend. He claims that while the rules allow the contestants on this game show to not send anyone home by majority vote, you will never see this happen before the very end when one faction rules out.

Cristigale – (Neutral No-Lynch Advocate)
You like proving people wrong and have taken your friend's bet.

No-Lynch Advocate – You have no powers. You detect as Vanilla when it comes to role.

You win if at least half the players vote no-lynch on any vote before all scum have been eliminated and before scum have won. You also need to survive (but after the no-lynch vote, you can just “quit the game show” and go home early fulfilling the win conditions)

Oops, I forgot a name, let me come up with one...Judy. You have the option really, but to cement the win, you may just immediately walk off into the sunset. Or, you may continue if you want, risking the win. You are the 16th role, I wanted something Jester-esque but not completely silly like a Jester.

[For the record, this name I Googled. Judy Clarke is a defense attorney who specializes in death penalty cases like the Unibomber.]

You create a small sketchbook. The drawings are mostly stick figures, but its actually amazing how some of the images look like Yogsloth. Image after image showing some very impolite deaths befalling him. And on the last page in big block letters...."DO NOT INTERFERE...OR ELSE".

Most importantly, construction tape and a bloody hard hat occupy the room.
