I normally refer to persons on the internet as "he" since I like that better than guessing genders, which is totally impossible ;-)
I also often use "hey guys" for a general greeting, meaning all people reading it. If someone should feel offended by this I appologize :-)

ChrisSD: Statistically speaking you're most likely to be a cat. The internet is full of them!
Meow.
Male or female aside, sometimes you can't even be sure about the taxonomic rank, I'm talking all the way up to phylum.

Yeah, cause then that right there is gonna open up a whole other can o' worms ;-p And that would be bad...

~btw, I am wearing a dress (and a tutu, btw), in my avatar pix - that might be a clue. But, yeah, I may occasionally correct but I never take offense. For a while I had an entourage of white knights that corrected other forumites on my behalf but I guess I didn't pay them enough in courtly favors so they've ridden off to find other causes to support ;-D

I'm gonna ask something back:
If you address a female here on the forum as "he", would you like to be corrected? Or would it be better if she just doesn't say anything about it as to not make you uncomfortable?

sunshinecorp: Ah, I remember the good old times on the internet, where all women were just men pretending to be women.
Thanks for a good LOL. :D

On topic:
The idea of having small gender sign (it can fitted, there's space in our info left of the actual post) always sounded super useful to me, so PLEASE GIVE US THAT GOG.com STAFF!

But for that one has to register what sex one has. And usually in such forms I can't resist to answer the question "sex?" with "Yes, please!" :-)

I would have to go with, "I love it and I'm fond of remembering having it" in that case. XD

If I become your white knight do I get shiny armour and a high horse?

Dzsono: Is the lesson here to refer to everyone on GOG as "she" until corrected? I think the answer is a resounding "yes" :P

Fever_Discordia: Sounds like some kind of ultra PC conspiracy, in accordance with the SJW agenda to me... -_-
It doesn't sound remotely stupid enough to seem like SJW agenda to me ;P. Calm your tits.

Absolutely! I'll even throw in a sword, a lance and a shield ;-)

misteryo: I'm just going to refer to everyone as "hungarian" until they correct me.
I like hungarian's idea :)

GOG originally let users specify their gender. Many of us apparently self-identify as "ninja". Naturally, I'm a funky monkey.

On Neopets they had "male", "female" and "robot" as gender options for a time.
Honestly, I don't mind when people address me as 'he', since it's hard to be sure on a forum. A lot of the time people get it right, though, maybe because I use other forum names that are clearly female or because I frequent parts of the internet that are more often visited by women. Now that I think about it, I can't even remember it happening recently.

I guess I would use 'he', to refer to people on GOG, because there seem to be more men here than women. In some other places my first choice would be 'she', because I know that there are more women than men.

I like all the people saying they don't care what is used or they just default saying "he" or blah blah blah. I wonder how many replies I'd get correcting me if I started assuming everyone was female? I think I might start doing that. :)
