drealmer7: Sooo, no one wants to share if they think the cult starts with just the CL or a CL and a follower?
I'd wager the game starts with a CL and a single follower. Not much else fits the available data.

Vote Drealmer. You're putting out misinformation.

JMich: And knowing our luck, the tracker will then be converted, and the CL will know who the deprogrammer is...
I'm the Deprogrammer. Problem solved.

You are what now? Why? How?

I am not sure if this is the most brilliant or the most stupid play I've encountered, and I have encountered yog's cop claim in the first post of a game... Will have to think it over tomorrow.

Fantasysci5: Vote: No Lynch.

Because it's the first day and we already have a dead guy.

drealmer7: have to bold it for it to actually count (:
True dat.
Vote: No Lynch .

How is that putting out misinformation? I'm not purporting to know for sure about anything. I'm just posing possibilities.

If this is true, you MUST tell us your target before the end of the day today. If you do and that person dies, you're all but verified.

If you do and that person DOESN'T die then you're either 1) a liar or 2) the cult leader just wasted a "conversion" to make you look like a liar, in which case we're up one night and one townie that would have been converted otherwise.

If this was a joke post, ignore me. If this wasn't a joke post and you refuse to give a target I'm going to consider you a prime lynch candidate (I can't see a reason for a deprogrammer, given the game rules of the game, to out themselves and NOT provide a means to confirm).

Assuming your post is a joke post for the moment...

Vote drealmer

No lynch day one in a cult game with no mafia nightkills? Really?
flubbucket and bookwrym627 are raising my hackles.

I think you have this wrong. If I'm reading the OP correctly, the deprogrammer's target only dies if he was turned.

Beautiful.
I did make one mistaken in my previous logic (went back and read the rules again) - I was initially under the impression deprogrammer killed WHETHER CULTED OR NOT - this is wrong - kills cult only.

I still want to see a call out though, as assuming you're deprogrammer it turns you into a pseudo doctor - you can "protect" a character at night.

I still don't like that play though bookwyrm. I understand if you ARE town deprogrammer you can feel safe in knowing the only way for cult to get you is for the cult leader to kill himself so that buys you a solid few days.

But I don't like the alternative:

You're cult and we're in a cult leader +1 cult game at start. Day two our tracker comes out to confirm you didn't move (or for a REALLY ballsy play, you're cult leader and DID move). Then night two, cult converts our tracker (I suppose the REAL deprogrammer could protect the tracker at that point).

And now we may or may not be down a tracker, may or may not have a false deprogrammer spreading bs and may or may not have a real deprogrammer with the tail between the legs ...

... unless you start calling out names each day. Because if you do that and a name you don't call out dies I'd like to lynch the hell out of you. And if that doesn't happen, then at least I know I can feel a bit better about the name you call out when the next day starts.

Let me suggest an alternate strategy.

Wyrm does not tell us who he'll target on N1. He tells us who he targeted on D2, and we lynch his target. If his target flips town, he's the deprogrammer, if his target flips cult, he's the CL. How do we know if he told us the truth? Because of the tracker. The tracker need only step forward if wyrm lies about his target.

Possible complication: both the CL and the deprogrammer target the same person. If wyrm is the CL, then the deprogrammer can step forward and claim on D2. If wyrm is the deprogrammer, then the lynch will still verify him.

Possible complication number 2: wyrm deprogrammer, CL recruits X, X claims to be the deprogrammer who targeted the same person wyrm did. Can probably be verified on D3 with the tracker tracking X on N2.

Once more, I'm overthinking this. It does depend on the tracker staying alive and town for two nights, though that should be quite easy. Off to mull a bit.

Outing the tracker, in any way, is a horrible idea.
