I proudly possess one of the best whisk(e)y collections in town, and I have no friends to share with :( It would probably last me a lifetime. My favorite class would probably be American ryes followed by bourbon. Unlike most people I'm not too crazy about peat bomb Islay whiskies (or extremely hopped beer for that matter, moderation is key), but they have their place.
I am slowly putting together a rum collection spanning different styles of the spirit as well, but the number of well-aged quality rums with no sugar/flavoring/crap added is relatively small.
Also recently ventured into some of the higher end XO Cognacs, and some Armagnacs. Good stuff indeed, but difficult to get a hold of in the US except the big 4 mainstream Cognac brands. I'll need to look more into it.
