I've never seen an alcohol thread here, but surely people here like to drink at some point or another.

At the moment, and for the past few days I've been slowly drinking a carton of Toohey's Extra Dry. It's a dry lager that just tastes so crisp and goes down smooth. I'm certain there's still some in the system from the day I started, because even after one I feel fuzzy in the face.

However, nothing beats vodka. Smirnoff double black, or even straight Smirnoff.... I love the stuff. It absolutely takes all care away from the monotony of life, which is just what I need sometimes. Especially with my second year of medical science around the corner... I need to enjoy it while I can.

Yes, I know you all enjoy your games and witty discussion that requires your brains to be working overtime... but surely some of you haven't forgotten what it's like to just sit back and enjoy a drink. Especially when there's so much angry discussion around here lately. We all need a break.

How come nobody ever asked me this stuff when I still drank!? :P I was a great alcoholic but no one cared. Now that I finally crawled out of the bottle and dried out, all of a sudden it's a hot topic! XD

My favorite alcoholic beverage? Any alcoholic beverage.

Though I haven't partaken since recent health problems.

I do have some great stories because like I said, I was drunk for virtually ten solid years, but I really don't feel like getting into them right now because they can kind of get me down.

Realized one day why the hell am I drinking this horrible tasting beer, because other people say so?

Changed to straight bourbon on the rocks. Was much happier.

Then I got recommended Midori cocktails from Peter Vincent in Fright Night.

Midori and Pineapple soda with Ice bartender.

Vodka.

Most alcoholic beverages taste like lighter fluid. Or piss. Or lighter fluid mixed with piss.

But I don't drink it for the taste, I drink it to get drunk, and vodka accomplishes that, as opposed to beer which after drinking multiple bottles of the bitter crap I still have nothing to show for it.

Drink I like:

Bad medicine.

1-2 shot of Cranberry Sambuka in a coke glass with some ice,
pour a WKD Blue over that.
Drink through straw.

Very sugary drink, but tastes great :D

Silly(ish?) story.

Out one Saturday with three mates in York (we weren`t from there). One rushed two pints & said was off for some cigs, he caught bus back to his parents (some folk get scared when can`t see the local clock tower lol).
Another mates misses turned up to join us, they ended up arguing as per usual so we ditched them.

Two of us carried on for few more & caught last bus to catch last orders where we resided.
Whilst in there, bumped into another mate that tried to start a fight with me, he calmed down after a bit & I had to help mate home as he was hammered & I was sobering up.

Hour+ later, just as I turned corner & stepped on kerb, I went flat on my arse, had slipped on a leaf.
Glad that no one had been around to see it, went to get up & struggled, holding hedge to get back to the flat, thinking sprained ankle/leg or something.

Day after, leg swollen, called in sick on Monday, hospital on Wed` for check up. As nurse came out with xray, I asked "okay to put my boot back on & go to work?" to which she said "No, you`ve spiral break on both bones in lower leg, you shouldn`t of been able to even walk here."

One call to temp boss & getting called a c*%£ for leaving him alone with the idiots at work & despite being seasonal work, I was surprised that he had put me on the books so that I would get sick pay whilst off injured :D
Made sure to buy him a drink or three once I recovered.

No matter how often I go out, I am always careful stepping up a kerb since then ;)

I'm a big beer drinker. I mostly love the super hoppy pale stuff (bitter or not, either is fine but I generally don't like the ones that are cloying, sticky and sweet) and thick, roasty, pitch black stouts. Lucky for me this a great time to be a fan as there are a TON of awesome options out there. Also have a few favorite porters that I'll drink pretty regularly as well.

I DO like bourbon as well but don't drink it as frequently. I go with a generous two finger pour and a lone small ice cube - initial chill of the cube and potent bourbon and warmth followed by a lukewarm slightly watered down sipper. If not like this, neat.

Obviously if I'm drinking cocktails, it's a Manhattan 8 times out of 10. And yes, you bet your ass I drink that thing straight up.
