Has that ever happened? You heard of this critically acclaimed film that every one says its one of the best films, yet you yourself never watched it? Or just movies that people like to bring up on occassion?

Casablanca is AMAZING but I'm begging you not to watch GWTW. It is sooooooo loooooooooooong and soooooooo slooooooooow and the dialogue is sooooooooo stupid! :P

but ive watched return of the king
the extended version

and the other extended versions of lotr if i can sit through that i can sit through gone with the wind

Well factoring in Director's Cut's/Exteneded Edition etc.

I like to see the Ultimate Cut of Watchmen.

One of the best Director's Cut I have seen was Kingdom of Heaven.

As to length don't forget Braveheart.

As much as I dislike the LOTR movies, at least they have some nice war scenes and some nice special effects. The only interesting special effect in GWTW is when Melanie walks across the room carrying an electric lamp.....IN THE 1860s!!!! :P

Also if I have read and loved Lone Wolf and Cub I will also enjoy Yojimbo and Seven Samurai?

So, Lawrence of Arabia, yes, but also :

most Kurosawa

Harold and Maud

quite a bunch of social/political italian classics (ettore scola, etc),

a couple of Herzog,

M, and a few other Fritz Lang

Toucht of Evil, and a few other Welles

The Hill,

Solaris,

a few Tavernier,

...damn, that's really way too many of them to mention.
