Elmofongo: Is the music to Warcraft's Elwynn Forest still your favorite? Because after listening to Everquest 2's equivilant I challenge that:

Also did you listen to the Gundam Seed Symphony soundtrack?
avatar
Matewis: I did listen to it, but I couldn't decide on a favorite from those I listened to to :P Perhaps the first one on that playlist. I've tried watching some Gundam Seed in the past, but couldn't really get into it. As far as mechs go, my favorites from an anime remain those from Blue Gender.

That certainly is a beautiful EQ2 track. I used to play EQ2 off an on for a few months many years ago. I liked its Myst-esque atmosphere a lot. And though it's a worthy challenger, Elwynn Forest is still my firm favorite :) Walking into Elwynn Forest for the first time was preceded by many years of restless anticipation, even after WoW's release since for a long time the internet and subscription required was out of my reach financially. So it's more than just the song itself that makes it my favorite :)

Lately I've been listening to a lot of music from
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/80s_synth_electropop_music_thread
I'm slowly sifting through it to build a playlist I like. So far my favorite one is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TKH2fQhNc8
Regarding the Gundam Seed Symphony: My absolute favorite is the finale especially the last 3 minutes of it:

https://youtu.be/_Ryyc2xF9XM?t=284

Now that sounds like a glorious ending to a long hard struggle, the romantic vibe to it gives makes me imagine a glorious wedding.

Regarding techcho, synth pop.

Don't know if this counts but whatever Conker's Bad Fur Day had this:

Hey Matewis, I have been reading the Silmarillion today.

Long story short I was reading a portion referring to the Elven city of Gondolin and saw this image of it:

And as I saw it I immdietly thought of this piece of music that played in Everquest 2 that I have been listening to:

Its moments like that is why I love the Sword and Sorcery Fantasy Genre so much.

Man thanks for the nostalgia trip! I used to play Everquest 2 for a little while a few years before I jumped into wow. The game has such a unique and fun vibe. If only there were more single player games that shared its atmosphere. Closest I can think of is Morrowind.

The Sword and Sorcery genre is responsible for some of my favorite music in film over the decades. A perhaps somewhat neglected subgenre of it is where the high fantasy element takes a bit of a backseat, like in the Conan series. This is one of my favorite musical scores from the film:

Loved that game's music. I'd be hard pressed to identify a game more epic than it. Though I coveted the Baneblade, personally I preferred all things SPESS MEHRENS!

This song (the unofficial theme song for the gog forum, btw) will change your life.

Pay very close attention to the lyrics. Deep thoughts, friends.

Beautiful. It reminds quite a bit of some of Outcast's music.

Nice. Gregorian chants. It's been a while since I have heard anything with those. The title "Requiem" take me back to this theme:

Love it :) It has a real carefree 90s adventure vibe, and it does remind me of some film's music but for the life of me I can't put my finger on it.
Looks like a great game too. Can't wait until I get a good nintendo console one day when I have the moola and time for one :\
