Heck, I still purchase vinyl records. I have a vinyl record player that plays all 3 mediums of records, the 33 1/3s, 45s, and 78s. I love vinyl records, and I do purchase CDs as well too, I like physical media. That is why I like Nintendo Wii and whatnot, because it still has the physical media, the booklets, cases, the discs etc. lol. I am old fashioned, and I am 28, but, I prefer the older style of things, the 90s, 80s, 60s, 50s, etc. I don't stream much, only Netflix on my Wii, and maybe Youtube and Pandora from time to time, but I prefer physical.

I still like having DVDs from movies, I don't even have Blu-ray , 3D, none of that, just a standard 1080p HDTV , with a DVD player attached and I even have VHS tapes and some cassettes lol, old school lol. I HATED VHS and Cassettes though, they sucked imo.

Who wants to go to a Speakeasy?! Haha none of that anymore in this day and age.

Don't suppose you know where to get something to play Shellac records?
It depends on the CD/artist and how attached I might be to their material makings. I still buy them sometimes, but sometimes I'll just buy a download of what I want too. It just depends.

Hell, I still buy vinyl records if the album/artist strikes me! (Like Primus' Willy Wonka album, or Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Push the Sky Away CE.)
The only physical media I still buy are DVDs with cartoons/movies for my kids and it's only because I don't know any DRM free alternative for that.

Yes, the 1920's
CD collection is 4000+ and grows by about a dozen a month or so. Which means I've slowed down, but that's more due to the capacity of my brain to absorb new music than anything else.

Actually, here in Akron, there is a place that sells Shellac records or known as Gramophone. They sell those records and I even have seen the wax cylinder stuff, very old looking stuff, the Gramophone was just an older version of the record player, and basically works the same. I like the phonographs with the needle that extends downwards a bit, those are cool looking.
Bah, you're just stuck with habits of the past. :P
Also, buying physical and then using digital doesn't make sense.
Optical media must die >: )
I'm currently thinking about buying Prey on eBay

This is pretty close to how I am too, I just read your post, I posted my post first and now just went through and read some things.

We have the ability to play all of those, too, including the shellac records (we have an old phonograph) and ollld records. It's great to be able to do, IMO. Though those things are so damn heavy, we've considered getting rid of it all.

We also don't do Blu-ray or 3D. I just have a720p monitor with my computer hooked up to it that plays DVDs and all other media and then a VHS player as well, and lots of VHSs of things that you just can't find anywhere else except on VHS. I stream on netflix a lot though, and used to stream HBO and am considering Amazon Prime+HBO online.

I don't do consoles, though. All video game stuff is digital and computer HDs these days, which is to me the new physical material just smaller, there's enough backups and all that now, I want to reduce the materials I contribute to having. I don't mind acquiring old stuff too.

Also, I don't listen to CDs too much. Most stuff is converted to digital and I just have the hard for backups, though a lot of the stuff I can DL now too because I own the CD, which I like a lot.

Hey, organic, eh? We are as well!

Nope.

Every game I play is deleted from my disks once I complete it, unless it is a multiplayer game that I know I will play in the near future. Movies are either pirated then deleted or streamed through Netflix. Music I either listen online or buy in WAV formats and then upload to my OneDrive account where I keep it.

Physical discs? Certainly don't need that junk.

darthspudius: As far as vinyl goes, they cost more because you get more. More art, proper lyric sheets, booklets etc.
And lower sound quality. Got to love that.

I don't buy much music, but I buy CDs when I do,

I've bought hundreds of games here, but I still buy the occasional classic in boxed form for collection reasons, or if it's not available digitally.
I still buy music CD's. All the games I ever buy these days are on a digital distributor, usually gOg.

Indeed. When I want an album I still buy a physical copy. That is unless I can find a lossless digital copy. Something that can easily be backed up and that I can reconvert as needed. The needs I've had for music have changed numerous times over the years and having a large number of files that can be batch converted when that happens is a huge time saver.
I purchase discs unless the album is only available for download.
