Kasper...: Finally, I finally have a reason to buy The Binding of Isaac Rebirth... a game I've been playing on a off for years...

...too bad the linux version isn't here.

Maybe in 10 years.

Still waiting to have a good way to buy the game...
From what I've heard, the latest BoI expansion/DLC/whatever dropped Linux support for some reason. Said expansion also seems to be fairly controversial, it sounds like a lot of players feel that it ruins the game. I don't know if not having the expansion installed allows you to avoid the changes from it though, they may have rebalanced the base game too.

It'd be nice to see the original game and its expansion here, especially because of how drastic the price difference is between that and the new version with all of its DLC. That would also give hope to seeing other related titles like Super Meat Boy that (as far as I'm aware) have nothing to do with Nicalis.

I'll add myself to those wondering about the fate of this free Christmas game. I've never understood putting time and effort into making something like that only to arbitrarily make it unavailable through legal means. Hopefully the game will at least stay in people's libraries; it disturbs me that this is even a question but GOG's removed stuff before as seen with that demo someone else mentioned. The policy should be that once it's in your library it stays there forever unless you refund it or request a removal from your account. Hopefully someday GOG will make that the case, but until then at least we have offline installers I guess.

_Auster_: Isn't The Binding of Isaac a Flash game wrapped with a Flash Player executable? If it is, while not ideal, I remember reading something about a port of Flash Player for Linux, and that people can extract Flash games from Windows executables.
The original Binding of Isaac was (although I think it was Adobe AIR that was used).

I'm pretty sure Rebirth is a from-scratch rewrite of the game in a different programming language (I'm thinking something like C/C++ or something?), giving it better performance and removing the flash dependence.

Orkhepaj: why is this The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth so hyped? looks like a meh game
what happened to my comment?
why The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is hyped?:O
holly ...
so why isaac is so hyped?
teszt poszt i cant believe this forum is this bad

why cant i comment here?
At the time the original game was released, action rougelites were not common IIRC. As a result, the game had the advantage of being novel, hence why the game was hyped.

Also, this game is from the developers of Super Meat Boy, a precision platformer that became rather famous (and which started a sub-genre that later spawned games like Celeste and Sunblaze).

Finally! Thank you Nicalis and GOG! Been waiting on these since forever ago. :')
Is there a bug? I can't add Secret Santa to the cart (and to my account). The game also doesn't appear in the search bar.

edit: ok, now they changed the "add to cart" button to a "notify me"...

It's the same for me, too ...
'Notify me' shows up on the gamecard even if you added it to your library in time.

KetobaK: Great addition to the catalogue! The free game is temporary to add or to play?

eric5h5: This is GOG...once you download a game, it can't be taken away.
Based! But still would be good to know if it's one of those games that will be removed of our libraries...
I can't add Cave Story Secret Santa, it says "coming soon"

Unsure I can only assume maybe this is another Nicalis stunt as has been controversies before dealing with Nicalis in the past ..
probably a GOG screw-up unfortunately, but if I'm wrong let me know

MasterofFiction: Free games are always nice, but man it has been so long since I played Cave Story I don't remember anything about it.

Edit: Ok, I'm a little confused. What is the upcoming Cave Story +? Is it a remaster, a remake, a sequel, something else?
As fas as I remember, Cave Story+ with better graphics, pretty much like Spelunky has the free version and the HD paid version

There was some controversy on Cave Story+ back in the day, sorry if I misremember but was something in the lines the original single developer accuse the publisher of misleading him to secure the ip righs.
What giveaway? *stares at the notify me button*
