I guess that makes me the kettle then?
There's nothing wrong with putting faith in a developer or publisher. Faith is what keeps the whole game industry going. If no one trusted any team to get out a game, whether that be a re-release of a classic or something new, there wouldn't be much drive as there would be no one to please, much like how someone on a stage can feel empowered by a crowd pleased by a performance (if you get rotten vegetables thrown at you though, you don't feel very good and your drive could be damaged, if not irreversible).

There's also been no proof that Night Dive are failures, as they haven't put out any flop of a game and they keep their devoted community continuously guessing as to where their catalog will go next. They're also strong supporters of DRM-free, which is a serious plus for gamers and GOG. But then I'm an optimist at heart, as being a pessimist just makes everything feel like a big giant conspiracy or let down which just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I say power to em.

Night Dive shared a poster for Star Wars Episode 7 and said "
Having nothing to do with any Night Dive releases (or does it?) did you know there is a Star Wars Episode 7 poster? We've seen it credited with copyright Disney/Lucasarts on a couple blogs, hopefully it is legit!"
Gotta be a fake, they probably don't even have a final script yet.

mistermumbles: I kind of doubt Night Dive had anything to do with the original Shadow Man-GOG deal
Valiant Entertainment was looking for someone to solve the compatibility problems with Shadow Man (sans the source code) in order to re-release it on Steam. I contacted Night Dive about it on May 29th and they responded on June 25th: "Hey Barry, we're currently in contact with Valiant. We'll be sure to keep you updated."

TheEnigmaticT specifically named Shadow Man as a release that wasn't the responsibility of Night Dive.

mistermumbles: I would prefer GOG not just rely on Night Dive to go after all the complicated classics, though. (I appreciate ND's effort towards some especially tough ones, though.) I've been rooting specifically for GOG to get LucasArts here for so long I'm not going to just switch over easily. :P They got the Infinity Engine games, they got EA, they can get Disney/LA too. And hopefully go back to Hasbro and Ubisoft and garner the Gold Box stuff.

Fever_Discordia: We don't, you know. You'll see in about 5 minutes. :P
Night Dive is publishing the game on Steam, but they're also publishing the Wizardry games, which GOG also got without any help from them.

(edit: copy-pasting that post gave the 29'th and 7'th person in this thread as the authors, but it was tfishshell and TheEnigmaticT in this thread. Of course Shadow Man was the game that was released in about 5 minutes.)

Night Dive recently posted this on Facebook:

Interesting article over on Gama about the adventure games of LucasArts. Check it out, then let us know why you think we're still talking about and pining for this particular collection of games?

Here's the link they're referring to (it's a bit dated, but still valid): http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/189899/
Night Dive just shared an article called "Old-school adventure games that deserve the Monkey Island treatment" and said "Which LucasArts remake would you prefer?"

Jee, all this Lucas related stuff plus the image of Full Throttle and I recall something about Grim Fandango makes me think they may have gotten the mouse house to agree to let them resell most of Lucasarts old catalog because if not then this is some kind of bad joke/way to get people to keep paying attention.

Of course when they got SS2 they did a bunch of teasing before hand so..
Stephen Kick of Night Dive recently conducted a Q&A with Lee Haneman, who was an artist who worked on Wizardry 8. RPG Codex has put together a compilation of the most interesting parts:
http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/q-a-with-wizardry-8-developer-lee-haneman-at-night-dive-studios.87444/
I listened to an interview with Stephen Kick, he mentioned Lucas Arts, one of the things he said exactly about Lucas Arts was "all i can pretty much say is that we are doing our best" or something like that.
I wish we'd find out what's going on with the NOLF game rights. They were looking into it as of April when the news broke and I guess there's no leads on it. Whoever got those rights in a mess is gonna have to explain themselves.

LucasArts stuff would be great, although I'd love the Star Wars games to be on here more than the adventure ones...not that I'd hate having Grim Fandango, Monkey Island et al, I'd just like to be able to play X-Wing Alliance again :(

Do you still own the game? if you do and use Windows 7 64-bit, you can install it with Markus Egger's replacement installer, you can download it here:http://www.markusegger.at/Software/Games/Default.aspx but if you are using XP, Vista 32-bit or Windows 7-32 bit. you should be able to install the game with the regular installer. I tested it on my Windows XP laptop [i am not sure what service pack it was though] and it works perfectly. i also tested it on my Windows 7-64 bit laptop and it works almost perfectly on that as well, sadly there is a problem with the music in which part of it freezes and plays over and over again. there is not a fix for that problem at least that i know of.
If you don't own the game anymore, you can buy it from Ebay or Amazon. but i do think that old games should become available again.

I don't own it. I played it at a friend's place and I don't feel like trawling Ebay/Amazon for copies.
