JinseiNGC224: This could be nothing, but a comment on their facebook was in regards to the recent Shadow Man release. The main poster simply said "hmm", with Night Dive letting out a simple wink as a response. Someone then responded saying specifically "If you had something to do with this, I hope it means you'll also manage to clear the rights to one of Accolade Studios Teesside's other fantastic titles - Forsaken from 1998, one of the best Descent clones out there."

Night Dive then responded saying "The future is FORSAKEN".

If your unfamiliar with Forsaken, shame on you.

Read up on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forsaken_%28video_game%29

Wishlist it here: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/forsaken

amok: well.... I hope not. it was too MP focused, and I can not get on with 6 DoF shooters, especially with the control schemes they had back then. It was a decent Descent clone (ahem), but with not as good game play and better graphics.
A decent game is one that has more than enough reason to come to GOG. Not to mention most "out of date" games and "decent" games (albeit, not stellar), are what GOG specialize in, but that doesn't mean they aren't enjoyable or great in the hearts and minds of GOGers. Whether I buy it or not, awareness is a great thing and I hope if it comes it makes more than a few people happy, even if i don't buy it (which I probably would anyway).

I remember wanting to play it way back on Nintendo 64. I can't remember whether it's tucked away in a closet or not...hmm *shuffles through hundreds of old games*

FOUND it! :D It was tucked in between with Turok Rage Wars and Top Gear Rally ;)

I was just looking for anything else by Acclaim to get excited about but I'm struggling, best I can se is 'Re-Volt' an RC car racer!
No wonder people use to write it as 'Ack! Lame!'
Oh and Shadowman had a sequel but it was a PS2 exclusive - hate it when that happens!

Just like how Summoner 2 was only PS2 ;(

Nordic got the rights to the IP when they acquired it from THQ earlier this year. I didn't actually know there was a PC port of Summoner 1, but there was!

Speaking of, I can only hope that the Red Faction series and Titan Quest with it's expansion could come here somewhat soon, seeing Nordic scored them from THQ as well. Also they score Darksiders and MX vs ATV. Seeing Nordic has been such a great supporter through lots of releases here, and The Raven is coming tomorrow, I won't doubt that any of those titles will stay away forever, older or newer.

I also didn't know they're still developing expansions for Spellforce 2...amazing! It's said to be coming out this year, as the final expansion, AND they're working on Spellforce 3! ;O

Busy bee's indeed!

I always wanted to play Red Faction and Titan Quest (never played either...). I'll hold out a bit longer before I look for old hard copies

Oh, and I looked at Acclaims list on Wikipedia. Maybe you've seen it or you know about them all, but check out their list and see if you get excited over any of the titles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acclaim_Entertainment#Game_titles

Someone posted this pic in the Night Dive thread.

Maybe it's not Night Dive related (wasn't posted by them), but I didn't expect that to be in Guacamelee!

It's more a statement of truth than anything, though.

Question,

Since they have the rights to sell SS2, will they be making a true sequel to SS2?

That would be amazing, and I wouldn't put it past them.

There was a lot of pessimism over hopes of even bringing the old system shocks to Steam and GOG. Posted way back on May 30th 2011 there was an article on G4TV regarding how the franchise may lay dormant forever, and how they're might never be a system shock 3. Oddly enough since then System Shock 2 has surfaced, and everyone is crossing their fingers for the first one.

Here's the article:

http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/713030/the-lost-history-of-system-shock/

If there's any hope of a third, it's important to make the classics available and for folks who missed out on them to be aware of their existence and the original roots of many modern games.

Imagine Shodan with an enhanced Bioshock Infinite engine @_@

I say bug them on Facebook and request a third game, Night Dive that is.

Yeah, here's a list of the Nordic owned IP I've discovered so far that aren't on Gog yet
Nordic Games:
Aura: Fate of the Ages (Nordic)
Darksiders series (THQ - Nordic)
Frontlines: Fuel of War (THQ - Nordic)
Full Spectrum Warrior (THQ - Nordic)
Genesis Rising (Dreamcatcher - Nordic)
Red Faction series (THQ - Nordic)
MetalHeart: Replicants Rampage (DreamCatcher - Nordic)
MX vs. ATV series (licensed vehicles?) (THQ - Nordic)
Safecracker: The Ultimate Puzzle Adventure (Nordic)
Spaceforce series (Nordic)
Supreme Commander series (1: THQ - Nordic, 2: Square Enix)
Titan Quest series (THQ - Nordic)
World of Zoo (Nordic)

Including stuff they acquired from THQ, from my list thread

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/missing_original_ips_from_signed_publishers

5 old Atari games on GOG are now listed as 'Tommo' (check Dragonsphere for example) so I've been going through the list of stuff they acquired and adding it, assuming they're willing to bring more stuff and not just leave the games that were already on sale

Bloodnet and Slave Zero look like the best ones from there...

Maybe I will.
I think a KS campaign will raise a billion dollars. =P

Your link doesn't seem to be working!
Without reading it, I find it odd that SS1 is harder to get than SS2 as you'd think the situation with SS1 was LESS complicated as looking Glass weren't involved and all...

*edit* I mean Irrational Games weren't involved - Looking Glass for both

I already see a couple of games that I am excited to see that DID receive PC ports (I still wonder if GOG will ever sell good old console games... that'd be a big help for us retro gamers):

X-Men Children of the Atom (they handled a PC port of it. Never heard anything good/bad/indifferent about it)
Mortal Kombat 1 & 2 (both of these games got practically arcade-perfect PC ports... I think a lot of people, myself included, would kill for these PC ports instead of the lousy arcade ports in the MK Arcade Kollection)
Turok and Turok 2 (had no idea both of them had received PC ports... hope they were competent PC ports... but given the fact that Rogue Squadron 3D received a MORE than capable PC port, I have no doubts about that)
WWF Wrestlemania The Arcade Game (I hope this PC port was competent)

Fever_Discordia: Genesis Rising (Dreamcatcher - Nordic)
This one will be an arse to get working on modern systems - I've got it on steam and after about 3000 error messages it starts running and either half the graphics are missing or it just runs in ultra low mode with more error messages all the time and an almost guaranteed CTD at random within 5-10 minutes. From what I've read / seen it works fine on some older systems though. Would love to see it fixed up and on GOG though as it had some really nice ideas it seems.
Night Dive just posted a chance to win copies of Wizardry 6,7, or 8 on their Facebook:

"Win copies of Wizardry 6, 7, and 8 by watching SomethingAwful's Steam Shots!"

Night Dive just posted a System Shock comic on their Facebook:

And no I don't re-post every Facebook entry, just the ones that seem interesting ;)
Here Tim Schafer getting all buddy buddy outside the Night Dive offices, just to give the LucasArts nuts another red herring to chew on!
