Stilton: I hope you get sleepy and don't have to stay up all night again, although spending a night with you is really very nice (that will get them all talking again ;-)). Having to go through another day on no sleep the night before is really not a nice experience. Have you got a pair of comfy headphones you can use in bed and listen to some nice relaxing music?
EDIT: you could try this.
avatar
moonshineshadow: Yeah I hope so too. But I also need to consider the time. Because if it gets too late, I can deal better with no sleep at all than with a real short amount and then needing to get up.
And no, I don't have any headphones that work since I lie on my side which would make it uncomfortable.
Hopefully me talking about racing games will put you to sleep fairly quickly....

pimpmonkey2382.313: What horror games does anyone plan on playing on halloween?

Me probably the first 3 resident evil games, maybe phantasmagoria games, silent hill 1.

CarrionCrow: Tempted to count Puzzle Quest 1 and 2, but in actuality it's just my willingness to suffer that scares me, not the games themselves.

At this point, it's looking like Downfall and Outlast. Have Cat Lady, Last Door and Limbo as side items.
I would play some pathologic, but doing the HD version and not giving it to owners of the previous one puts a bad taste in my mouth. Especially since the translation is so horrible in the first one, that you can never know what to do next.
Thanks Crow. I had a feeling that might be the take on it, but I was curious. :D Even if it was great I am so backed up on shooters it's a joke. I currently have nine installed, none of which I'm even actively playing. :P

Not a problem. As I recall, I went into it thinking it'd be like an interactive John Woo movie. (Oh, the stupidity of quasi-youth.) It ended up being very, very average. Think it lasted less than an hour before getting switched out for something better.

Stilton: There were some console (Playstation) games I recall liking more, but as soon as I discovered PC simulations all of that was forgotten. I recall seeing a review of GT Legends on TV and my jaw dropped. It was the reason I bought a PC I wanted it so much. Then when I played the first time I had no wheel and had to manhandle a keyboard. Even with an unfamiliar control method I loved it right from the start :-) I love finding a game like that. Before PC's it was Tomb Raider on the PS1. I still have the TR PS1 games, although the console itself is long gone. I lived those games.

ElTerprise: Well i was always a PC gamer (mostly because i never had a console until i got a PS3 two years ago). Yes most of those racing simulations look fantastic (even the older ones didn't age that much imho...)

Hm..maybe i should give them - in case i can find a good one a try without a wheel....for the moment Grid has to do it i guess - which i started downloading after we begun talking about racing games ;)
Grid is the best Codemasters' game I've tried. It needs a bit of umph to run on the highest graphics, but its got a decent career mode and enough variation to keep it interesting. Its still arcadey, but its good arcade - you can still get a feeling that you're driving something real instead of something on rails.

A much more fun approach is the two Flatout games. The first is the better of the two and great fun if you're feeling a bit anarchic. It can be pretty funny too, with the extra games and the rag doll driver.

That whole thing is hit and miss to me. Some companies do it, some don't. With companies like Larian and Inxile, they can afford to burn money on an upgraded version then give it away for free. Some companies probably can't, though.

I would agree, but when a translation is so bad on the original version of the same game that you can't really play it, you probably should just give it to previous owners as an apology.

Just saw the page for it on the forum. Looks like they're doing a permanent 70% off discount for the new title if you own the old one. That's probably as low as they can slice it and still hope to at least break even.

Yes... i played the demo years ago and got it here in a sale but never got around to actually play it. And i liked the demo quite a bit.

Oh right....the Flatout games. Played both of them. Just like Burnout Paradise they're a lot of fun - especially the extra games (in Flatout). Didn't the first Flatout had something like a realistic handling of some sort?

Even with that I wouldn't buy the update with how bad the previous one was. Should be like "Our bad, we fucked up."

I was very impressed with the handling in the first game, and that's from someone who is into simulations. I was expecting an arcade feel, but the physics are much better than that and would easily work in a good quality sim. In the second game they're deadened down and the whole game suffers a bit from taking itself too seriously. Its still worth getting in a sale, but the first one is just plain crazy.

Totally understandable. Course, I'm now curious as to just how bad that translation is...

Your objectives a lot of times...don't make a damn bit of sense. lol

It's easy, really. Take a bit of enjoyment, mix that in with self-loathing, add just a splash of giggly deranged glee that comes with hating something so much I kinda want to kill all involved with it, shake vigorously, chug to the last drop, then chase with cigarettes and soda. =)

They had to have been more drunk than I've ever been in my life while translating that game. lol
