Stilton: I was playing Kingdom Rush and for the first few levels was feeling happy, but then the difficulty levels became very uneven and it degenrated into a case of frustration management.
I HATE when this happens. When a game I'm really enjoying, with a ton of fun mechanics and good gameplay suddenly hits "that wall." I always try desperately to keep enjoying it until that inevitable point where I'll find myself near banging the desk and I stop myself thinking "Okay, this is just too much I stopped having fun here a while ago." Luckily those games have been few and far between for me but it's always so disappointing to have a surefire winner end up awful due to a difficulty hike.
Alright folks - i've to get some sleep. *Good night hugs and waves*

See you all tomorrow :)

Stilton: I never knew what a blast it is, and what a treat on the eyes! I'm liking it and laughing and have hacked my way through most of what I've done. Screw the guns, blades are FUN! Its a novelty actually playing a game without downloading one or keeping an eye on little blue bars. A pleasure I hope you can enjoy yourself before you're much older.
avatar
CarrionCrow: I've played a small bit of the newer version, but it was enough to know what you mean regarding the sword.
Guns can't hold a candle to that for visceral enjoyment.

You're right, having that stupid nagging feeling of things being incomplete go away will be great.
Looking forward to that quite a bit.
One upshot to it all - It's very clear that there are some games in my collection that are low priority. If I cherry pick the ones I feel strongly about, the remaining concern about finishing should be minimized somewhat since I'll already have what I prefer.
If you can do that that's great, it'll make the last few days bearable. But I was getting a bit OCD about it because I knew I wouldn't relax until it was done. I even went back through to check for missing DLC (the Sword of the Stars download missed some) and again to make sure I had all the serial keys. Now its all in I feel glad I did a thorough job, and gladder that the beast has been vanquished ;-) When you're done you'll scream with pleasure.

ElTerprise: You're probably right. It took some time to get most of the conversations back but that was some weeks ago....i don't like that at all...
It was bound to have some teething troubles. Maybe GOG should try a beta program, allowing a part of the community to test new features before they roll them out site wide.

avatar
CarrionCrow: It's due to be available in the middle of next month. I'll keep in touch with them starting at the end of the second week so I can immediately switch over when it becomes available.
Was told I'll need to switch out my modem, but otherwise there won't be any changes. (Aside from a higher monthly fee, of course.)

Hopefully so, and much sooner than next week. Your workload isn't exactly compatible with multiple days of sleeplessness.
Will there bit a big difference in speed once the new service is made available? I thought that they would increase the monthly fee, they have to recover the cost of the new infrastructure, I suppose. Gone are the days when the company would use it's profits for that, now they can jut charge the customer more for it all.

Thank you. Hopefully I can get few more hours of sleep tonight. I am feeling a little more clearer minded today, so hopefully I can shut off and get some sleep.

Crow and I talked at length about difficulty levels during the last sale and were both pissed off that developers are too lax to sensibly judge where to stop making it too damn hard. Kingdom Rush is plain laziness because its unbalanced, but some games become so idiotically difficult (Far Cry comes to mind - great first half, secong half turns to shit) that any pleasure you might have been having goes out the window. I play for pleasure, not to have me want to strangle a developer somewhere whose judgement/skill is badly skewed.

I will see if I can get some sleep, hopefully a few hours at least.

Goodnight, everyone! I hope you have a lovely evening.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm tired of doing it, tired of looking at it, tired of the whole thing.

According to the site, the next upgrade tier will make my speed 2.5 times faster than it is now.
There will be much higher available as well, but I don't have that much money to spend on crazy-fast internet.

Hope you're able to get some rest. Have a good night. =)

Hope everyone is having a good evening
Assassin’s Creed question:

The CD version had a sound bug where some of the dialogue wouldn’t play. Has the GOG vesion corrected this? I can’t see anything about it in the reviews, so I assume it has. At the price it is I’m sure its well worth a go. But I’d like to know that the bug is no more.

Not seeing anything about it on the forum, but I did find this. It might be of use if you run in to problems.

Hello everyone else.
Good evening to both you and Billy. =) (Forgive my message condensing, I don't know of a great forum workaround for saying hey, how's it going to two people in the same timeframe.)

Not a problem. Put the sound bug into Google, that looked like the most immediately informative item.
