fronzelneekburm: Riddle me this, Batman: If it's such a non-issue, why is it in the game in the first place?
Because it's the computer informing you that despite the voice suggesting otherwise, it has no gender. That's it. In some sci-fi settings AI may have a gender - like Mass Effect. In others, the computer will speak with a human voice, like Star Trek, where the voice was also female, but will have no gender, or even personality. As I am not obsessed with this culture war I would never see in this short, neutral statement anyhting else than information about what kind of AI I'm dealing with.

Drosa: What?

I thought for sure Microsoft would never allow this to happen.
Eh we have cuphead and Microsoft funded that. Technically it has a different publisher anyway. Anywho I don't think Microsoft cares, they just want people to get gamepass lol.

Ok, you convinced me. Maybe I'm reading too much into this.

Still not gonna buy, because female NPCs in this game are eldritch abominations. And that's not really up for debate either, anyone with a pair of working eyeballs (or - barring that - one barely functional eyeball) should be able to see that.
There is an interesting question here. I believe Microsoft were the ones who greenlit the DLC for the game, even though the main game was done with support from Private Division (2k) as the publisher.

So will Microsoft allow the DLC here? We've seen the situation with an earlier Microsoft IP (Ori) where Part 1 was licensed out to THQN to publish on PC, but Part 2 was published by Microsoft themselves and only showed up on Steam and GamePass.

or the fact that we have a bunch of dumb SJWs here that call us bad. Breja. you are no different from an ANTIFA militant. I suggest you enlist yourself to them so that hopefully you would be in jail for assault on people like me or fronzelneekburm

While I agree the character models are friggin' terrible in this game, I think it simply comes down to problems with the art direction, and if that computer was playing social justice games it would be doing the opposite of what's shown in that screen.

I mean, when was the last time you saw an identitarian tell you it's ok to call them whatever you like?

I can name you a few devs that have an abomination problem

Fair enough. I don't think all the characters are quite that horrible, but I agree they're not exactly stellar looking. I'll definitely buy it eventually, as sci-fi RPGs aren't exactly overly common, and I liked New Vegas a lot even though that too didn't look great. Still, I'll be waiting for a sale.

How long til the Epic exclusivity period ends? Friday is it?

Going to have my fingers well and truly crossed that the DLC appears on the day it launches here.

Yeah, Steam says that TOW is being released on Friday. I hope that goes for GOG, too. We'll have to wait and see about Peril on Gorgon, because right now it's not listed on Steam, either.
Now that was unexpected. Well done, GOG!

The game was released originally on October 25th. The Epic exclusivity was for one year, but the 25th is on a Sunday, so I figure we'll see it drop on Monday the 26th I'm definitely going to be picking it up as soon as it drops.

Why are you throwing fucking insults around, peasant?
I actually like my eldritch abominations, I can't say the same for female models in this game.

Mafwek: Ah, the Outer Wilds! I waited long for this ga... wait, what? Ah, it's New Vegas wannabe - pass!
avatar
rjbuffchix: A "wannabe" of my all time #1 RPG versus the latest hyped indie game...hmmm...I know what one I'm picking, myself.
Imagine what, New Vegas isn't my all times #1 RPG, but is damn close to that place.
And because of that, I don't need games which try to imitate it, but fail in that.
