So I bought pillars of eternity. Its been two weeks now and it will not install. Its bad enough I have yet another digital platform to run on my machine now but generally regardless of where I get the game, it downloads, installs, and plays.

So congrats on being worse than uplay? *shudders*

I've searched for topics regarding installation issues and the ones I found often say solved yet there is nothing describing how to fix the problem. Or it didnt apply.

Can any of you gog veterans give me any tips on how to make this thing work?

Basically the game downloads, or says it does, appears to still be downloading and hangs for as long as I let it. last time was 5 days while I was away from my apartment working and staying elsewhere.

One time it appeared to download the files but hung on installing with no error message at all. when I abort apparently it deleted the downloaded files. If there ever were any. Im sorry if I sound whiny or impatient or have missed some glaringly obvious fix. I generally don't have time for this anymore and would like to come home and just enjoy my games. we've been past the drive to the game store and wait forever to install and patch days for over a decade. I hope im just tired and missing something. thanks in advance.

Did you try using the gog downloader instead or also maybe try just the direct downloading links?

If you're using galaxy that is not the gog downloader, this is the gog downloader.

You will have to install the game yourself after the downloader downloads it but I don't see why it wouldn't work that way.

The newer steam-like client. The downloader is what we used before galaxy launched.

Okay to clear... I think. I am using the gog galaxy client for ease. I assume direct download means the patches and possibly DLC will each separately have to be installed in a specific order as to avoid corruption?
try the downloader or direct link so we know if the problem is the download or the install

Correct, using the downloader will download all the files for the main game itself, then you can go to the download folder and install the game after download. Or can just go to your library on this site and direct download files with your browser 1 by 1.

Grab the DLer, then go to the game in your library. Choose 'More', then GOG 'Downloader links'. DL the Windows installer, English and yhe following patches:

Patch 3.00, English
Patch 3.01, English
Patch 3.02, English

Run the installer, then the patches. You should be fine after that.

No idea as I don't have the game but I'd grab them all just to be sure.
