GOG's stance toward Russians, punishing regular citizens for something their totalitarian overlord has done, is mind boggling but par the course for this company. I'm sure the various Ivans working from day to night in mines for nothing are the ones responsible for the invasion of Ukraine, collective punishments against groups that had nothing to do with crime are very brave and stunning.

Which leads me to a realization- why buy? Why buy digital games, movies, whatever if at any time my account and "my" products are at risk because of actions of a brain dead politician for whom I most likely didn't even vote for? Why support GOG financially at all instead of going to its younger brother who has everything for much cheaper (wink wink, nudge nudge)?

GOG can burn in hell for all I care and looking at its financial trouble it probably will happen sooner rather than later. Nikt za wami nie będzie płakać, "rodacy".

The funny thing is that the mods are locking up threads because they're "political", as if this decision or the one regarding Devotion weren't.

Oh, while I'm here, when will GOG ban sales to USA and Israel, for their various and numerous war crimes?

Jorev: You can move me from sympathetic to boycott.

Time4Tea: Done. Do you have an opinion on the current vote that is being held?

Jorev: CD Project SA stock is plummeting this year, losing half its value and nearing its all-time low price.
My hope is that they will be forced to sell off the GoG portion of their business and that new ownership will treat their customers with respect and restore sanity to the forums.

Time4Tea: We can hope ...
It seems likely to me that a new owner buying up cheap company stock would be even less in tune with how to appease GOG's established customer base, let alone the notion that it would need special attention in the first place.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with hoping. I'd be thrilled. And who knows, perhaps a disconnect from CDP could be all it takes.

I simply have stopped buying from GoG; they are very dishonest and many, many, many of their games are utterly broken and unplayable and I have noticed that I can no longer get refunds; they have set up a ring around the rosy query to put you in a holding pattern until you go away. I give my money to Steam now because if something is broke; I have a 100% track record from them of refunding me. I trust GoG about as much as Pinocchio right now.

Oh, look at all the people realizing GOG is, in fact, a business and not their friend.
But honestly, I have a very hard time feeling bad for the average Russian Citizen. The guy they keep re-electing is the one trying to bomb their Ukrainian neighbors back to the stone age.

So does every western country.

Americans have no right to criticise who other people elect nor the right to complain about another country invading someone else. The sheer stench of hypocrisy coming out of this post is nauseating.

'But implementing Option A would be switching the premise on those users, to a new premise that they didn't necessarily sign-up to.'

A) This thread should stay focused on the two issues that it was originally set up to highlight, which are DRM and censorship of games on GOG.com. The thread title should also be changed to clarify.

What's the new premise? This thread hasn't introduced any new boycott reasons yet. Time requested a retitle to get the thread focussed on those main issues. Not that the other issues are invalidated, it's just to validate our main points.

Option B would introduce new points, not A. So no new premise, unless those that signed up have done so without the full knowledge/awareness of the confines of the 1st post by Time.
So if the points made by Time aren't changed (from 1st thread), only having been focussed on the main ones; then no new points.

Here are the points still available to view:
1) Release Devotion immediately.
2) Remove Gwent from GOG.
3) Remove DRM from the bonus cosmetics in Cyberpunk and remove the DRMed Piggyback Interactive Map from the store.
4) Address the games on this list that are currently sold on GOG, which include non-cosmetic DRM. The developers in question should be given a warning to remove the DRM asap. If not heeded, the games should be de-listed. This includes the games Absolver, Dying Light and Carcassone Tiles and Tactics (good sign: Hitman (2016) was removed 10/2021)
5) Address the other games on the above list that include locked cosmetics.
6) Cancel the deal with Epic.
7) Stop providing free games/incentives only to Galaxy users.
8) Assign adequate resources to maintenance of the offline installers. There is a list of games available here, where the offline installer version is behind the Galaxy version (some of these entries go back to 2020).

I'm inclined to believe your post against me is due to a lack of clarity on what Option A is and not because you'd like to bring a red herring into the argument to derail rather than invalidate another user's stance for A.

I agree with the supporters of boycotting. GOG was once one of the best Game stores, now it has started selling Drm games. It's kind of like Putin destroying his own country's economy by starting the war, thinking it will benefit the citizens and earn himself fame.

There's a lot going behind the scenes and what the fake news pushes isn't the facts and the opposite projected is usually closer to the truth. As such i doubt Putin is the boogeyman they are portraying him to be.

There's also a lot of information, not of what they are saying, but what they are not. We'll have to see over the next few months, especially when elections are finished.

If the other issues aren't invalidated, then why are we being advised to make our own "spinoff" topics and please whatever we do just get them out of this one promptly because it's inconvenient?

And I will reiterate that I think it is okay for people to boycott based on political reasons (I would argue that is equivalent to boycotting due to GOG's rejection of Devotion) but the debating back and forth has GOT to stop.

If someone is boycotting for political reasons it should read something like "imo, it is unfair that GOG is not selling to Russians and I boycott as a result" NOT "here is my 1,000 page dissertation about a politician". Enough!

It's precisely because we're an inconvenience, too icky for them.

ho, he is. my wife read English and Russian news, and get her information not only from news sites, but also from people she knows and independent sources. the image is not very good at all.

You should take your own advice and not read fake news

You think the Russian people has elected the President? Americans really do live in a bubble of their own.
