The Elder Scrolls. Quake & Doom. Fallout. Alright.

Welcome, Bethesda, to our pantheon of all-time classics!
Today, we're happy to start a blooming new partnership with Bethesda Softworks, one that brings an impressive lineup of their unforgettable games to our DRM-free platform, and plenty of guts and nuclear smiles to our faces.

We're teaming up to release some of the greatest hits from the Bethesda vault, some DRM-free for the first time ever. Eleven new arrivals include The Elder Scrolls and two digital-distribution premieres, totally retro id Software shooters, plus the long-awaited return of the Fallout franchise! To make the day even sweeter, The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall will be added to your game shelf entirely for free when you buy any Bethesda game.

The Elder Scrolls, perched high up among the most famous video-game worlds ever created, are now DRM-free and updated for your modern computer - you can purchase all three to receive a 33% discount.:

BillyMaysFan59: Did you do fearless QA testing for the new releases? =)

katatonicone: Oh just a little bit of Quake, yes. Have been busy with some upcoming releases. But I have nothing to say about them. Move along. :D
Don't forget about Quake 2 with the mission packs!
Awesome releases, thanks GOG and Bethesda / id for finally showing up!

I bet the staff at GOG feel like:
https://youtu.be/kIVJgZlGSnw?t=51

I spent everything I had on my pre-paid card, had to remove a few things from my basket, but I'll pick up the rest soon enough once I refill my card. :-) In the meantime, it's time to revisit Doom and Quake, and I'll see if I can't pick up all the Quake mods and total conversions I liked back in the day like SWAT and Special Forces. Looking forward to more releases, Beth. :-)

Aemenyn: I'm gone for a single day, and you guys pull this.
It's okay, It's not like I needed that sleep or anything.
avatar
katatonicone: Sleep? Pfff. So much overrated.
With enough coffee, a person can pare down the whole need to sleep thing to two hours or so. Add enough stimulation and you can eliminate that for days. Then you get seriously loopy, which leads to fun scenarios like beating SWAT 4 while drifting between being asleep and being on edge trying to not get shot.
can anyone tell me whats going on with the fallout games :)

why are they treated as different games ? ... are they uncut ?

it seems like the goodies are gone ... if i buy them again will my old fallout copies merge with them ?

(i kinda would buy them again if they are 100% uncut)

No, they aren't uncut. Don't bother buying them again.

Games are exactly the same. GOG is working to bring the old goodies to the new titles as well. Most likely scenario for the different game ids is that if you buy the new ones, you qualify for Arena and Daggerfall, while the old ones don't.

tl;dr
If you have the old ones, you don't need to buy the new ones.
OHHHH MYYY GOOOOOD!!!! The world is changing - Bethesda is finally joining the GOG.com! Wow! I'm so hapy! Maybe they will bring Fallouts 3 and NV and 4 here too, so I can buy them all again! I'm grateful that Fallout classics are here again - I have them on my GOG shelf of course, but it's so nice to see them in GOG's catalog again!
thanks for the quick answer guys :)

damn i really hoped that this release will finally be uncut without the need for old patches that mess up the game so it doesnt run on newer machines anymore

Hi, is there any chance (technologicaly) to bring Morrowind (one of my best gaming experiences ever) to OS X?

There is OpenMW, a reimplementation of the engine. A new version that should run a lot faster will be released soon (hopefully).

MadyNora: Omg, thank you!!

Wake up, we're here. Why are you shaking? Are you ok? Wake up.

GG, GOG. Even if we don't see any more recent Bethesda releases ( for now ), games like the original DOOM, Quake, Fallout or Morrowind really belong right here on this site, among the other classics of computer gaming history. Was about time for them to arrive here.

Also, I tip my hat to GOG's clever community, since some of you managed to figure this out long before the official announcement. Hah. :D

OpenMW itself is free (open source) software - you just need to own Morrowind. https://openmw.org/en/
