rjbuffchix: I know the updates aren't for us old-school users and I'm glad this is now fixed, but it should have been the default option. "Teething pains" is not an acceptable answer when the result is users' personal information being disseminated without their consent.
Unfortunately that's pretty much GOG's usual MO - launch something untested, unfinished and poorly thought out, then patch up some of the most glaring issues if enough people complain and then make a note: "huge success".
I also have a feeling that, despite being once specifically a store targeted at older users and old-school sensibilities, today GOG's staff genuinely doesn't understand such customers at all anymore. Everything seems to be aimed at chasing fads and following trends and any concessions towards people who value their privacy and don't want any of the "social network" aspects of gaming are made as an afterthought and usually begrudingly (the extremely passive-agressive, indiginant statement they made when graciously granting us the option to disable our profiles was a great example).
lolplatypus: Also while curated collections sort of make sense on Steam, because frankly any old drivel gets onto their shelves, may I remind you that
your entire store is already curated to begin with, so what's the bloody point? This. I was just about to write something to that effect myself.
