Yes there will be balls out humor.

Our goal is to have single and multiplayer but single player leads production. We do want to bring a sense of adventure to MP so it will feature many of the same goals you find in the campaign not just straight head to head action.
Hey all, I just wanted to let everyone know that we have announced our First Wonder Kickstarter and it is launching this Friday, September 25th. We are launching it in conjunction with TwitchCon and will be streaming the whole event from there on our Twitch.tv channel. It should be a lot of fun and we will have a lot to show off to everyone. I'll also make sure to post in that thread @Gnostic mentioned when the Kickstarter launches (thanks for that).

We have some more info on the Kickstarter and TwitchCon over on our First Wonder Facebook page for anyone interested. However, I'm definitely here to answer any questions!

Thanks StorkV88! We have yet to get any press what so ever about it, so the launch has been pretty slow, but we have plans to speed that up and if anyone is interested enough in First Wonder to share it around then please do! Everything helps.

Lead designer Nick Bruty emailed their slacker backers, saying, "We had some interesting conversations but regardless of how excited some were for the project it came down to numbers and risk. For publishers, the kickstarter showed we just didn’t have or couldn’t find the audience."

He went on to say, "I remain undeterred but it’s clearly been too many years since Giants and MDK and If I want to build games like First Wonder then I have to start off much smaller, simpler and grow a new audience. I have such a game in mind."
Sounds great, I can't wait for the release!

I am a big MDK and Giants fan so this should be great.

This is a pity, but I can't say I'm surprised. I think he's wrong, though. I'm quite sure the audience is there, the Devs just didn't show anything that catered to said audience. If you want to make a spiritual successor to a game mostly known for its wildly hilarious singleplayer campaign, you won't attract attention to it by saying "look at these cool multiplayer mechanics".

This, this was my thought at as well.

Oh well..hopefully they keep working on it and perhaps find some funding later on.

Oh wow.. talk about talking the wind out of the sails...
There was no topless Sea Reapers (or Sea Reapers at all) in First Wonder, maybe an other reason to explain the lack of audience...

Sad news by the way. The globalization of the creativity in gaming industry is strong : a shitty game which has success will develop a shitty successful franchise. A good game with a poor audience will be forgotten.
