It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Maighstir: I've read the GOG forums via the PS3 and XBox 360 browsers just for kicks, then again, my projector is only 720p so that's what I've set the consoles to output, I use a screen to project on (which I pull down in front of a door), and the projector is angled almost-but-not-quite exactly 90° onto the screen.
I would still like to try one out. Do they get too hot? Noisy? Take too much space? Are expensive to maintain (the light bulb seems to be quite expensive), and so on.

Actually, I'd like to consider getting a 4K screen (or an 8K one) "one day" (for computer use, not for watching soap operas).

Noise level varies, but is usually not very noticeable, some increase the fan speed for a short while during the shut down sequence for extra cooling. And in my experience, the projector itself most often break down (or is replaced for a better one) before the lamp burns out - I do IT for a school, where we have a projector in every class room, my own one is bought second-hand from a work mate who upgraded, and I haven't known of a single lamp being replaced since I started working there some 8 years ago.

The most annoying thing is the cabling, if you want it to look good rather than tripping over the damned things constantly, and depending on how many cables you decide to run - you'll obviously need power, but also at least one of HDMI, VGA, RCA composite, or SVGA, depending on what you want to connect and what your chosen projector supports.

As for space - if you mount it in the ceiling like I have, and we do at work, it practically takes none.

Oh, the cables! I had not considered that! But I saw some small projectors on sale. Maybe you could put them away after use?

If you have your projector on the ceiling, then you have really dedicated yourself to that setup.

One final question (I hope): ambient light levels. When you want to make a sporadic use of that screen, can you do it? It may take a few seconds to warm up, but if you don't want to turn down the lights, my (limited) experience says it is not very usable.

Watching movies, playing games with a gamepad, sure, those are long-term activities with little interaction with your environment. But using a keyboard extensively, taking notes, or if dimming light in the room is not desirable or possible, I think a projector cannot really replace the screen. So I'm guessing you also use a screen at home.

In full daylight, yes, a projector is less than optimal, but by just shutting out the brightest sunlight with blinds, or with the lights on during the evening, there shouldn't be a problem. Again, the teachers use them at work with the lights on and windows uncovered. Also, while my computer is hooked up to two monitors (and not connected to the projector at all), the projector is the only display device in the "media centre" setup.

588 as of today. I'll almost certainly be hitting 600 on or before the next big sale.
I've got 74 games here that range from excellent to playable, and 19 not-so-good games that I keep hidden.

It's not many, but I think it's a pretty nice collection and it makes me happy.
It's not the size of your library, but how you enjoy it. If 100 games make you happy, that's awesome. Personally, I have far too many games on here and Steam. and definitely too many that I have on both. I haven't played a quarter of the games I own here and apparently am a horrible impulse buyer. But I'm glad to support Devs and the like. Except Neocore. You can go to hell.

Not really, I'm pretty sure that one's been brewing for months.
