cailic27: So this is the issue. Bethesda is trying to trash one of their games again, like Skyrim. They keep "improving" it until all the modders go away and it's no longer worth playing. Because Bethesda games, by themselves, the vanilla version, are not worth playing for more than a couple days. Modders have kept their games alive and Bethesda seems to do everything to destroy the modding community around their games. They release a Special Edition version or an Anniversary edition, that they promise won't break your mods..... oops.
I wish CD Projekt Red would buy up the rights to the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series.
MysterD: And the easy way to solve all these problems would be to have split entries on GOG for these games & their key-versions/editions.
For Skyrim on GOG:
1. Skyrim: Legendary (Old Skyrim version - which is NOT on GOG, but should be).
2. Skyrim: Special Edition
3. Skyrim: Anniversary Edition.
Same could go for Fallout 4 too on GOG:
1. Fallout 4: GOTY Edition (oldest-version)
2. Fallout 4: Next-Gen Edition (newest version w/ new updates for PS5/XSX era).
PROBLEM SOLVED.
Okay... problems here.
For Skyrim, it IS broken up into different versions already, you just have to look a little harder for the older versions. Check GOG both SE and AE are all available separately, in fact SE is on sale for $9.99 at the time of writing this, but that isn't the problem...
For Fallout 4: There is no Next-Gen update on GOG yet, just the High Res update. That is the problem the modding community is having, they have to maintain compatibility for 2 versions of the game, whereas with Skyrim, most have dropped keeping backwards compatibility for LE and SE. Especially LE compatibility since so much changed between LE and SE.
Also... if you don't want the latest update... Turn off updates... Simple...
