As for preordering...

Snowbirds yet again f*ed up dates, last beta test just started, so game will inevitably be released with bugs.
Actually, in last stream producer stated "Paradoxes released Europa 3 with bugs, why we can't too?". With this attitude I don't expect anything good.

Some screens of this inevitable fail:

They returned back this stupid building wheel. Then look at top right corner - wall in stone. (initially it was small stupid lake with wall around it - we sweared for 2 years on russian forum to remove that)

Graphical bug on hit:
Will be in final release. "This is feature" by producer's words.
3)Without words:

This seems to be an ongoing trend nowadays. Games that come out full of bugs. By the time it's all fixed up the price of the actual game lowers cause it's an older release. For the past year or so there has not been one game that has been released that i have preordered that has been without bugs. Well what do we get as the people who preordered this??? why preorder????

There is no such thing as running out of copies of a game like in hard copies??? why bother preordering a copy of a game full of bugs when you can get the game for lesser price at a later date when it is fully functional. MAKES SENSE TO ME. also, preordering bonuses don't make up for the fact that the new game that is being preordered if full of bugs... such a disappointment i say.
Can't speak for the UI as I haven't tested it, but those graphical bugs seem very minor to me.
Then again, they should be simple to fix so why they aren't going to address that is beyond me.
I just received my beta key, played 30 minutes. There is certainly more than just graphical bugs. You should apply for the beta and try it yourself. I would say on the surface it is a decent product, however in just 3 days they will not fix the bugs, I do not so. There are some strange design decisions, but it all comes to the bugs.
Well either:

1) This is a scam and Snowbird have no intention of post-release updates. Some third party financier is going to leech off any income. In which case, don't buy. Ever.

or

2) It's not a scam. In which case the more revenue Snowbird sees the better.

I can't see any argument for wait and buy on sale. There's no 'smart choice' to make here (being a cheapskate isn't clever). It's a question of whether someone is trying to screw us over or not.

ofcourse theres gonna be updates within the future but that was not the point. The point was at the time of release to pay full price for an incomplete product does not make any sense when u can wait (and pay full price if you want too but i ask why would you?) and pick up the game with no bugs or alot less bugs then first introduced. Many people agree with this theory and alot of companies within the near future will hurt because of this. I will give you an example of when baldurs gate enhanced edition hit steam. U can read the 200+ posts there of what happened, all I can say is that the problems still aren't fixed after 2 more updates after release and still going strong.
Ugh.. I preordered the game some minutes ago... :(
If this was a big institutional publisher then maybe there'd be a point. But in that case you'd be better off making a lot of noise and bad publicity.

But it's not. This is a tiny one game outfit (AFAIK?).

The question is whether the money I pay ends up going to snowbird (in which case I'm ok with that, I think I underpaid for Genesis) or some other party in which case this is a scam.

I don't believe when/how much I pay has any effect on the industry as a whole in any way shape or form. I don't believe markets process information/expectations or whatever nonsense theory.

Situation with Genesis and MotBW:
Genesis was made by Bokulev. Years later Bokulev and Snowbirds made contract, SB paid for translation and started development of MoTB.
Beta3 is just last iteration of f*k ups. We have seen this for 3 years, fake promises (like postponing release from feb2012 to add multiplayer - which isn't added in april2013), bad design decisions (building wheels, microsized buttons, dividing inventory scree - to transfer 1 item from hero you need to open first hero inventory, remove item, open trade screen, give item to second, open second hero screen and equip it...) , unplayable beta versions and so on. Note, first beta was after 8 month since first "release date".

So, basically, MotBW is a scam on ruins of Genesis.
As for bad publicity - their producer do this on his own pretty "well".
Arf I bought it some days ago... I was thinking it was the same as Genesis, but with a bit more, didn't expected an unfinished game. Maybe there will be a way to pick config files from genesis and to apply them on MotBW? does someone owning the beta knows about it?

Well, I return on Genesis...
It seems stinking like the Omerta release...
Soon DLCs for an unfinished Eador2?
I preordered too :(

ERISS: Soon DLCs for an unfinished Eador2?
You knew!
First DLC is already ready and was available for those who preorder game before 16.04 on russian site.
Other players will be able to get (buy? don't know) it month later after release.
Consists of guard + set of items.

Creating this in Genesis would take 1-2 hours if you will draw icons. Just saying.

Hmmm, this could be pretty bad considering that GOG is usually slower to upload patches than other sites.
Hmmm indeed!

I was saving up to pre-order, but now knowing the state its in and the likelihood of DLC's I think I'll be saving my money until the xmas sale :(

Anyway - Genesis certainly isn't a bad game and will certainly keep me entertained 'til then! :)
While stuff can be fixed if it gets a buggy release, I would not have pre-ordered knowing the situation with the DLCs.

Let's milk it for horse armor!
I agree with OP.
I am already happy with Genesis, so I am not going to order MotBW unless it has proven to be a full-fledged product.
Strategy gamers should see what happened to Legend of Pegasus.

I am also concerned that GOG seems to be getting tired of selling games with solid reputations.
Selling crappy modern games will undermine their core competency in the long run.
It is ok if GOG sells not-so-old games with DLCs, but at least GOG should release them as goty edition.
