Apparently this game is nearing release and will be coming to GOG. The premise, mechanics, graphics, and indeed even GUI/fonts remind me greatly of a non-fiction version of Zafehouse Diaries, with the breakout of urban war-cum-breakdown of civilization standing in for the zombie apocalypse as the pretext.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun has an Interview with the lead writer of the game, and he speaks at length about his creative process and the vibe he is going for gameplay-wise. Much of his inspiration seems to be influenced by the Yugoslavian Civil War.

I'm not sure if such a survival horror game will be "fun," (scavenging to survive and fend off the depredations of desperate bandits can make for grim playthroughs) but I'm definitely intrigued from the screenshots and gameplay videos on YouTube. Here's One. And Another.

Since I'm a fan of Zafehouse, flaws of that game notwithstanding, I'm definitely looking forward to this hitting the GOG digital shelves.

I didn't read, but it was what I thought too. War makes the world with 'alternative' economy: prostitution ('cooperatives' or 'civil servant' for the 'best', compelled by violence or druggs for others...), black market, officials corruption (more than usual), foreign bourgeoisy feeding on country in war in order to 'help', ...

This sounds like a game for me. I am VERY interested in the theme (civilian survival during a siege situation) and I like that it appears to have clear visual feedback. There is only so many times you can read the madlibs of Zafehouse where your character "hit a zombie in the eye and spleen with a baseball bat" trying to get a feel for what the game is attempting to represent.

I can already imagine a Stalingrad expansion for a game mechanic where you can ask other civilians and soldiers to blindly trade the unknown contents of each other's trouser pockets. To refuse such a challange was to show a lack of brotherly trust.
